Got offered a trade for my C5

By the way if you buy it get some new hood hinges. The bushings go and cause the springs to lift the back like that. A sign of high mileage IMO. Also I would have liked the car a lot better if it were not for the aftermarket gauges. Find a real SS round gauge dash cluster with tach and a rosewood steering wheel and the car will look the part more. Good luck and remember they handle like an arrow, ask me how I know...

There is somewhere under 0% chance that I would trade my Vette for a Chevelle. I would buy one if I could make some $$$ on reselling it. That would be the only way I would EVER have one.

I love Chevelles and have owned about 15 of the early 64 to 70 Chevelles over the years.
This car looks like a Malibu (cloaned SS) to me. The real 70 Super Sports had clear, not amber parking lenses. That is one detail cloaners often neglect. Does the rear bumper have the correct rubber SS pad/insert?
At any rate, it looks like a clean car but way to "Bubba-ized" in my opinion. Don't know too much about the miles/condition of your car but I would rather have the Vette.
Real 70 SS 396's and 454's would exceed the value of your Vette. A poorly done cloan would not. That's my opinion. Good luck

I'd say go for it!! Even "resto-mods" bring good money these days! If it is in the condition it appears to be in( I'd check closely for shoddy rust repairs and bondo) I don't think it would lose any value,,even hold or gain over time. You can always find another vet to add to your stable,,as prices are NOT holding for now!!I'd have to get another vet as I couldn't go for long without one,,but I'd get it if it checke over closely!!

I had a 66 chevelle and a 70 Nova SS 63 impala SS. All back in the day. They were easy to work on and alright to cruise around the neighborhood in. They suck to start in the cold especially if its cammed, they rust before your eyes and stop like semi trailers. If its going to be a garage queen and something to take to the shows where you sit in a lawn chair while everyone drools over your car, go for it, if thats what you want. If you want a superior car that is literally light years ahead of a 70 chevelle, something thats handles, drives, starts, and would run rings around any chevelle keep the vette

The tacky liberal use of red paint (hood hinges and rear brake hubs especially) and colored plastic loom screams that many corners were cut putting it together. I bet he'd have a hard time producing receipts for all the "fresh" parts, particularly the engine rebuild.

Could you trade for a couple of days to see if its really want to do? I am an old muscle car man myself and love the 60s-early 70s cars. When I had the chance to buy a toy I was looking at a 71 Challenger 340 4spd car ( my dream car ). On the same lot sat 2 98 vettes red one and a black one. After much thought if I could only have one car I chose the vette. To make a long story short I chose the more modern car for many reasons performance, gas mileage, air, cruise control, handling, and I am not afraid to drive it across the country. I just have a few mods on my car and turn mid 12s all day long that Chevelle is maybe a mid 13s car at best. So to sum it all up you would be trading a sleak fast car for a big slow car that can't turn, stop, gas guzzler. One more thing there is a reason this guy wants to trade you its because he knows you have the better car. If you could trade for a couple days you might find that out also. I still would like to have that Challenger but I can only have one so I chose the vette.

If that car has sat out in the weather for 15 or 20 years of its almost 40 years, it either has rust or has had rust in the lower front fenders, around rear wheels, etc.. Be sure to check these areas thoroughly as well as floor pans. That nice paint job could be worthless in just a few years if there is a lot of fillers under it.
I'm not trying to dissuade you. Just a "heads-up" for you to check.

Financially I think your car is worth more than the Chevelle clone so I think you hold the cards in this deal. Also that chevelle is going to get a lot less MPG than your car and it isn't going to handle or stop any where near like the Vette. It would be a change of pace and fun, but you have to decide if its what you want.

Man I don't know what to say. If it were me I'd prolly keep my Vette since it is my daily driver. I couldn't afford to drive something like that every day.
Just a toy though, I'd prolly trade. That is a good looking Chevelle even if it is a clone. (I don't particularly care for the hunter green, but the rest of the car looks pretty decent.
Good luck with it man

I'm sorry, but that is one gay'd out chevelle!! Dont do it. Your vette is worth more than an ugly clone. There are better Chevelles out there if your looking to get into the muscle car scene. Think about it hard. I mean please...........you pop the hood and see red painted hinges!! I'm crying tears for ya here. Military or not, I'm gonna have to slap ya in the back of the head if you do trade.
