widebody rear fenders for c5
i saw mention where someone took c6 zo6 rear fenders and put on a c5, is this possible, anyone done it with pics? I am looking to widen the rear of my c5 z to put bigger tires in without minitub. really didnt care for some of the non suttle appearing wide body kits. i am thinking c6 zo6 may be way to go. Any help appreciated. Dave

The L5 fender flares accomplish this... Never seen them in person but lots of people have them on this forum. I personally went for the mini tub kit.

You cant put C6 Z06 rear quarter panels on a C5, they wont fit. Someon on here did make some rear quarter panels for a C5 that look like the C6 Z06 panels though. Im sure someone will chime in with the info. on them. As mentioned above, L5 makes some fender flares also. The L5 flares are wide enough to put a 345 tire on without it sticking out. The C6 Z06 version are not as wide as the L5's.
Edit: Just saw that you have a Z06. I would go with the L5 flares personally. The C5 Z06 brake ducts and the C6 Z06 brake ducts that are built into the quarter panel would look kind of funny together.

Those bubble flares look like a throw back to the 1960's. Do a wheel tub or spend the bucks to put on a real set of rear fenders like ACP makes.
Here's the ACP version, sorry for the crappy pictures but the lighting in the shop sucked and it just came out of the paint booth.

Wasn't trying to insult anyone.
Back when I was younger that what the guys did when they put the big meats on the back so that the cops would not give them a ticket for the tires sticking out.
To be honest with you, my taste change and in retrospect I really wished I had just tubbed the rear.
All of you guys with the L5 flares are going to end up sand blasting off your rear quarter panels and rear fascia from all the dirt and debris those big tire kick up.
I'm having my car sprayed with armour guard to stop it from being chipped up.

I'm not spending what I did to have it look like a regular C5 with a rear lip.

Everybody has their own taste. I don't mean to be offensive to anyone but any of those bubble flares just don't look good to me on the vettes.
It breaks up the harmony of the cars body lines.

Great input and sweet cars. i am looking for a rear flare that covers the tire, the l5's look great but what about all the extra tire hanging out, does it chip up, this is what i was afraid of. i need the biggest tire possible out back. thought about minitub, but how wide can you go? if the l5's were covering more of the tire, they would be the ticket, i cant hook 4th gear on MT's so i know it will through alot of rubber. which way would be the best, opinions do matter as valuable input to the decision making process. Thanks to all Dave

If so, my project vette is a hobby for me and I'm in no rush to get it done.
I've done all of the work on the car other than painting and installing the body kit. It use to be a coupe and I converted it to a hardtop.
It took a lot of pain staking research to figure out how to do it, what parts were needed and who would actually do the final assembly and paint.
I choose to use ACP (Corvette Race Bodies) because of the quality products they produce, etc...
I also went with one of their stealth wide body kits and some other custom extras.
The job has taken such a long time because I travel most of the time and I'm actually in Minnesota this week and next week.
There have been several delays in the project caused my traveling schedule, the ability to obtain some of the parts and (4) other vettes that I have had to do some work on during this time.
Right now, I'm concentrating on putting my Bro's 2001 Z06 back together before continuing with my project again.
It's probably still a few years from completion as the interior, suspension, motor and drive train will be getting retrofitted too.
The motor has been purchased along with several of the drive train parts.
BTW, I wasn't taking any shots at the L5 flares, I just think from my various experiences with all of the body stuff that the mini tubs are a good solution.
I've had a heck of time getting rims and tire combinations to work with the body kit and big brake kit that are on the car.
