Do All C5 Model Years Have the Power Window Problem?

I have a 2004 coupe, both left and right side power window motors have been replaced. Even my local dealer admits the window motors in the C5's have been a problem.

Bakersfield's thread shows how to replace the relays on the window motors. From what I see that seems to be the main issue - a cheap relay.
Interestingly, Verts seem to be less affected. That may be because we cycle the windows every time the top comes down so theres less chance of the relay sticking. Also passenger doors seem to be worse than drivers doors maybe for the same reason.
This may be just a coincidence and I have no hard facts to back it up but its logical I guess.

Ive owned my 1999 coupe since 2004 and power window problems were the only problems ive had, intermittent up and down, stopping half way up or down, pain in the butt stuff as im a dealer repair guy so after the warranty(gm major gaurd) ran out it was 105.00 an hour, sometimes id wrap the inner door panel and they would start working again, really no complaints about the car other then my yearly power window thing..... Good luck

Didn't have any problems with the power windows in my '00 in the 7 1/2 years I owned it.

My 99 with 19K miles just started to act up. This weekend, the driver side window started making an awful noise when I put the window up and down. Almost a scratching/grinding noise, but the window still works. Dealer says that the wires within the door are stripped away and that I need to replace the how window regulator. Dealer estimate at $700 to fix. $500 for the part and $200 for the labor. I found the part brand new online for $350 so I am taking it to my own shop when the window stops working.

On my '97 Firebird I went through each side. Turned out GM uses the same motors from the 80's on almost all their cars no matter window size. Take a look at an F-Body window and you can see why I went through the stock 2.
