so i met a new friend (63 yr old man) who happens to have a small collection of nice cars. He is really cool and showed me his BEAUTIFUL car collection

Bottom line though he likes fast cars, although he liked my Z06 he smirked when i hinted at challening a couple of his cars. My question is, how would a full bolt on C5Z (388hp 380tq) fair against his gallardo and F430?

Spinning through first i ran a 13.0 at the track and from this magazine that i read http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...son/specs.html the F430 hit a 12.98 and the gallardo 13.11

These two cars he drives only once in awhile so i assume his driving cant be too well. do i have a chance?

Of course this race would be at the drag strip.

Btw his three daily drivers are Lotus Elise, 510hp P-51a Roush Mustang(never knew that car even existed), and last but not least a ZR1 it only has 600 miles on it

Yea, but as much as we love our cars, at the end of the day he wins because he goes home in a Gallardo

He was probably not smirking at your car, but your desire to challenge him. He probably gets that from every swingin' di<K in a fast car when driving on the street in his exotics.

In a 1/4 mile run, you would be right there. The Gallardo and the the F430 are top end cars. They would keep pulling to 170+. It would still be lots of fun.

Thats exactly what im thinking next time i see him its game on. he is more then willing to go because he thinks my car is not fast at all, he even made a crack about racing for pink slips lol

You would win based upon that youtube video that was posted. That Lambo only ran a 13.11 with a 1.9 60ft.....

I ran my Z06 at that same track "AAA speedway" and ran a 12.6@ 116 with a 2.4 60ft....

For how close these vehicles are in performance, I appreciate the ease of maintenance our cars have. Go buy pads and rotors for under $500 for those others. Good luck!

If it is a LP 560 gallardo, forget it! Otherwise, it's a good race until about 150! The F430's spin up fast. Drivers race.

i don't think you really have a chance, but who would want to pass up the opportunity to race those bad *** cars, go for it

^^^ I don't know about that based on the times from the article.
A 12.98sec for the F430 and 13.11sec for the Gallardo a stock C5Z06 should beat them assuming competent driver.

Those times are not earth chattering. I realize Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s are not drag cars. I think a C5Z06 should be able to keep up until the top end (of course). But how often do people race to 190mph on the street?!

But with all that said, I’d take the F430 and Gallardo in a heart beat.
