Read up on Ranger's launch posts and get your car off the line and I think you have a pretty legitimate chance. Either way if you don't get him, it was still a fun outing, and if you do you get some bragging rights and might get to drive a couple of his toys

Set it up and make it happen, just don't cut a 2.4 or miss a shift hehe.

yeah he already let me sit inside and start all of his cars and that was only the first time i met him. The only two cars in his stable that i want to drive is the F-430 and especially his ZR1

We will see what happens, i will bring a camera and see if my girlfriend can record the races from the passenger seat

LOL I beg to differ... I ran a 12.6 with a 2.4 60ft @ AAA speedway. The Gallardo in the youtube video only ran a 13.1 with a 1.9 60ft at the same track.

I understand that it is possible, but under what conditions? Was the Gallardo there on the same night as you were and at the same time? Weather and track prep can easily make a .3-.5 second difference on a run. And if you cut a 2.0 vs a 2.4 it is a hell of a lot easier to run 12.6

Track Prep is virtually non exhistant at AAA speedway, you're basically racing on a parking lot with barriers. Your correct about the weather making a huge difference in the track times. And no I wasn't there during the time the Lambo made his run. According to the video, his run was made Sept 23rd of 2006. My 12.6 was actually made in July 2008. I would think the track conditions would be worse in mid Summer than they would be in the Fall, I know we were hitting a DA of over 5000 during my runs (California's over 100 degree days). But the only point I was trying to make is, judging by 1/4 mile times and trap speeds at a common track, It would be pretty easy for a C5Z similar to my own to take out a Gallardo similar to the one at the track. Even with a poor 60ft like my own (2.4 to a 1.9), there was still a .5 second difference with a 3mph trap speed difference.

And if you cut a 2.0 vs a 2.4 it is a hell of a lot easier to run 12.6
That's very true. It was only my second time at the track and I think my times we pretty decent for the horrendous 60ft times. I'm hoping the next time I go back, I'm on a decent tire and I can hit some 1.8's - 1.9's and maybe hit an 11.

I'm at work now and cant search youtube or streetfire, but look for c5 zo6 versus exotics. Its a blue cammed z06 and he shows up at a car show thing and races all these ferrari, lambos, porsche on the freeway. he pulls the **** out of almost every car. The 911 or whatever TT gave him trouble, but the others were dealt. So, I would say that freeway racing wouldnt put the OP out of the equation, running a 13.0 with almost 400rwhp in a y body isnt too hot though. My 300rwhp f body ran high 12's.

I personally like the vettes over alot of exotics. we have a group called cars and coffee here that meets monthly with lots of exotics showing up. Gallardos, Murcielagos, 911 turbo, A8, vipers, db9, etc... i still liked the corvettes. Nice wide body c6 at this past one.

People that have those cars likely view the maintenance cost the same as we do ours. People with civics probably say the same about us.

I appreciate the "ease of monthly payments" compared to those exotics.

My car can almost compete with the low end exotics - for 1/4 of the price and nearly twice the gas mileage.

But to be honest, it was a private event and usually they take much better care of the track for those events since we pay $100 per person :cool2:

I didn't do anything special at the track, just launched nice and easy (avoided the water box) and let her rip. And although it was my first time at the track, i didn't run my best time on the first run ever :p I literally got in at least 10 runs tht day, so I was able to get a good feel for the car.

Thats exactly what im thinking next time i see him its game on. he is more then willing to go because he thinks my car is not fast at all, he even made a crack about racing for pink slips lol
Dude, where are you located? I was at a car show a few weeks ago and the was an older guy with a P-51 Roush and I know they made very very few of them.

As for on the subject, you'll lose (well, you should lose) in anything but a drag race.

Hmm. I think I might need to try out one of those private days. During the regular track days, the prep is a joke. I think they do it one time like the night before, and just send us on our marry way. Plus we only get about 3 runs in in the 8 hours we're there.... It's pretty bad actually.
