Recently I was walking out to my car and putting my bag in the trunk, (I drive a 99' FRC), when I was greeted by a man with another corvette. Our conversation led to him asking me how many miles were on her, I told him 47K miles and hes like that's not bad. I have 13K though, with a big grin, telling me he only drives it during the weekends when its not raining.

Anyway what I am getting at is that I don't understand this concept of NOT driving your corvette. The C5 for the most part is not an investment by any means and it is very drivable. I DD my car, except in the winter, and it was actually in better condition than the guy who came up to me with the car with 40K less miles.

IMO a car is meant to be driven. To me I don't care what it is, i'm going to drive it and without hesitation.

How does everyone else feel about this?

I don't drive mine like the car was engineered for,really want to keep
my license. These cars can put up with a lot of abuse though, as long
as they are maintained properly

I drive mine everyday as long as the weather is nice. If it's rainy, icy or snowy, I drive the work truck!

i'm kind of in between the choices up there.

i drive mine during the week and weekend if it is nice weather.

mine is not a DD but is driven whenever the weather is nice...

I drive mine every day, except when the roads are "white" with salt...
3 months this years, heavy salt year in Michigan...
Got the 01 out yesterday and put 100+ miles on it...
Drove it to work today also....
Looks like Spring has sprung here finally...

How do I feel about it? Well I look at it this way...... when buying someone will enjoy the car at an awesome price more that the original owner. His loss is my/our gain.
With that being said I would also love to have a second Vette that I babied and kept in mint condition for those nice cruises or for showing. But since that probably will never happen I’ll just keep DD the one I have and enjoy.

I drive mine all year round, even in the snow (although not in the very big snowstorms) I know my car isn't going to be in 100% perfect condition with this type of practice, but most people that have seen my car will agree that it's 95% perfect. From a few feet away it still looks as good as new.

Not a daily driver, but living down south and traveling to many shows and vette outings I put 34k miles in the last 2 years yet have tons of bling on it, just clean it.

I bought mine to commute in so it will be driven every day other than when there is snow on the ground or right after a storm when there will still be sand and salt all over the roads, but as soon as things dry out, it is back in the Corvette.

I had a CBR1000 for the past 10 years that I'd commute in from about March until October then got in my Tundra for the winter, but as I sold all things with 2-wheels, it is now the Corvette and the Tundra and I don't miss the streetbike anymore, not a bit. Growing up is not all that hard to do. Good poll question though.

When I bought the '01, I had every intention of using it as a DD, well....., after mod fever, going to shows to display, having some success with that, it's pretty much a semi show car now, sees nice days only.

I miss driving it, that's why I bought a '97, that's used as a DD now, except for snow.

I think a Corvette is an extra "fun" car for most owners. Since I have a truck for the nasty weater days, I like to keep my car clean if the weather is bad. I'm not afraid to run it and enjoy HPDE's etc, but when it's polished and waxed, I hate to see it get dirty. If you drive yours everyday, that's fine too. I just feel lucky to own such a great car, and want to take special care with it.

My Vette is for fun only but I'll go on out of town trips and I'll go rain or shine.

On my last C5, I drove it as a DD for about the first 1.5 years I owned it, then went to driving it only occasionally. I liked to show the car and keeping it in show-clean condition was just not possible using it as a DD (just didn't have the time to be constantly detailing it). My next one will be a DD though.

Mine is a DD year round. It only sits when there is snow on the ground or if the road is icy... not worth the risk.

I could not pick one of the four answers, as mine does not really fit any of them. It is not a daily driver, as the wife and I work only about four blocks away from each other, so we drive out Trailblazer. I drive the vette to work only when there is a conflict on our schedules. I try not to drive it in the rain, but if I need it then it goes out. In fact I drove today because I am leaving early, and tomorrow I have an appointment with Social Security (retiring next month) so I will need it then and there is a chance of rain, but oh well.
Now for a side note. The wife and I were talking the other day about my retirement, and because she will still be working and using the Trailblazer, she says why don't you start looking for another car so you don't need to drive the vette everywhere you may be going once you retire. I thought to my self not that is why we have been married for 38 years, then it dawn on be. All those honey do's will need a pickup truck to haul the needed material, and the vette just won't do.

I drive it like a Corvette, I see some of us here should of bought a Chevette the way they drive their Corvette.

My C5 used to be a DD and that changed with Boost and the new C6 that is the current DD

I drive everyday. I put the top down everyday the weather allows. I drive it like I stole it when ever conditions allow for it. South Ga. gives me plenty of opportunites to have a great time driving.

I drive my black car daily - weather permitting...which is about 300 days per year. The Pace Car is only used occasionally on weekends, to and from shows. The Pace Car is a low mileage car that I want to keep almost 100% stock and I want to keep the mileage down. If something were to happen to it in traffic, and I had to replace any of the decals or the paint - it would be very costly and difficult to replace. I have an '07 Cadillac that I drive in inclement weather.

I refrain from judging anyone else as to how and when they drive their Corvette. They paid for it, and if they only want to drive it as a show vehicle, that's fine with me.
