The factory does tint, so they added enough tint to mine to make it the legal 50% for Oregon
Not near as "cool" as "limo" tint but legal and safer.
But, the dot matrix in the upper part of a coupe hatch is something to deal with. There is not a lot of space between the dots so one must work out the bubbles or air-spaces later with your hand, maybe using a cloth too.
So, that's what the dot's are about...if you have coupe, take a look at the upper part of the glass.

20% back and sides on my car and truck. Local PD doesn't really care, but the state troopers will raise an eyebrow. Also depends on where you are in the state. Some areas they don't really care, some are notorious for busting you. I got a ticket in my truck one day by a state trooper. I had no idea why he was pulling me over until he came up and said something about my tint. I pulled the tint off, they cleared the ticket. It is what is known here in AL as an equipment violation. If the problem is fixed within 72 hours, they will drop the ticket. I had it redone about a week later - cost me $65 for my front two windows.
State law in AL is 35% all the way around on a car, 35% front windows and rear whatever you want in a truck or suv. thing is, sometimes it is hard to distinguish between what is a car, suv or crossover where do you draw the line ???
In my car, I just roll my windows down when my radar detector beeps. State troopers don't always run their radars though, so sometimes its hard to get em down when I see em
Having had this for most of the time I have been driving, I really have trouble getting in vehicles with no tint. everything is so much brighter - it gives me a headache sometimes.

Had 18% on my GTO and it was PERFECT. Not too dark but you couldnt see through it. I'm gonna go legal (30% in NC) with the Z06 as it will get enough attention as it is

Texas
here is what texas has...
What's inspected during the annual inspection?
For all 1988 or newer model vehicles only the windshield and windows directly to the right and left of the driver are inspected.
Windshield
Glass coating or sunscreening devices
Cannot extend downward beyond the AS-1 line; or
Cannot extend more than 5 inches from the top of the windshield without an AS-1 line.
If coating or sunscreening devices are used above the AS-1 line, they cannot be red or amber in color.
Front Windows
Windows immediately to the right and left of the driver, which open, cannot have less than 20% light transmittance.
Depending on the meter Mine reads 18 - 21%.... So I figure Im in the ball park. I was stopped about a month ago .... read 19 on his meter and received a warning.
