Default C6 Z51 rear Rotors and Brackets Installed--Thanks Gene Cully (Pics)

I got them from GM Parts House from Gene Culley and they are in perfect condition

I took Gene's suggestion and used "VHT Clear Coat" High Temp 500* Paint on the Rotors and brackets to keep them from rusting etc.

As an added bonus the C6 Z51 Rotors and Brackets do fit into a 17" wheel - Why? because I have MT ET Drag Radials on 17" C5 Z06 Front Wheels! (And I'll be posting this in the Tech section too)

So for any who wondered if they fit in the 17" wheel, well they do

I had to change them because my Rear WILWOOD rotor cracked:

After

New Bracket

17" C5 Z06 Wheels,Drag Radials and C6 Z51 Rotors and Brackets

Enjoy the ride

Thanks,Matt

I've seen a few C5's with the C6 z51 rotors, I like their look and they look great on your Vette

can you edit your post stating the wheels are not OE GM, and they are installed out back

Big difference, will a C6Z51 rotor/bracket fit up front w/ the OE GM 17" wheel, barely, I've done it, but just in the shop, not road tested.

BTW: you might have missed a washer out back on those aftermarket lowering bolts

When I bought the Vette it came with the WILWOOD set-up on it.

Then one day I saw a crack and I needed to change the REAR So I posted in the For Sale section and Robert Miller had a set he pulled off so I picked them up from for a good price and slapped them on.

Then a couple of weeks ago my buddy spotted a crack on this set too (But the opposite side from before)! So it might just be the REARS on the stock size Rotors from WILWOOD that have the problem

Either way I decided to go with the C6 Z51's and they seem a lot better than the stock size WILWOOD for the C5

Part numbers are:

Z51 Rotor (2) - Part# 89060329

Z51 Bracket(2) - Part# 88964167

I got them from Gene Culley GM Parts House (Here on the Forum) the total was $301.36 Shipped, signed, sealed and delivered

Thanks,Matt

1. I thought I made it clear that they are 17" Z06 Front wheel bolted to the REAR of my Vette with the C6 Z51 "REAR" Brackets and Rotors - which wheels are you reffering to as not OE GM? My chrome ones or the Black ones with the MT ET Drag Radials (Mounted on the back and "NOT" the front!

2. This post is not for the front I do believe that 17" wheels will have a really hard time fitting the C6 Z51 "FRONT" Rotors and brackets - again my post is only for the rear set-up the fronts have the WILWOOD C5 2 - Piece set-up

3. Washer out back? they were installed not by myself but by LAPD - so if you see something missing in my pic make it clear so I can fix it if need be

Thanks for the close eye and catch but I need some more info on your statements

Thanks,Matt

Matt, the "do C6Z51 rotor/brackets fit w/ 17" fronts" has been a big debate for the past few years, that's all

the lowering bolt is prolly fine, just looks like it's missing a washer

How much bigger are the C6 Z51 rear rotors compared to a stock size C5 rear rotor ?

Do you know how big a C6Z06 rear rotor is ? I need to change my rear rotors to something with more clamping force to hold my car on the launch on my 2-step before I hit my transbrake .

Is a C6Z51 caliper any bigger than a C5 rear caliper ?

Thanks , Mike

Hey Mike,

First remember that I am utilizing my "STOCK" C5 CALIPER and only using the C6 Z51 Brackets and Rotors - I believe the C6 Calipers are the same size as ours.

The C5 Rotors are 11.8" in Diameter and the C6 Z51 Rear Rotors are 13" in diameter and from the end of the rotor and straight accross to the top of the caliper the dimension is 14.28125: (And this is why it fits into the stock C5 Z06 17" Wheels that I have my MT ET Drag Radials mounted on

As you can see in the pictures above that the C6 Z51 rotors are bigger by just looking at the before and after shots - take a look at the arm behing the rotor near the top of the rotor - you can see how much is showing with the C5 rotor and how much less is showing with the C6 Z51 rotor

I hope this helps some so if you need anything else let me know - you can also call if you'd like Cell 661-406-7516

I can take any measurement you'd like for the set-up

Thanks,Matt

Thanks

I might get a quote on the C6 Z51 front rotors and brackets too

They are about an 1" bigger and that would look even better

Thanks,Matt
