Mine has gotten stuck from time to time. But never 200 degrees. I've had it stick on a temperature and not change for a day. But then usually overnight it corrects itself.

sensor in the front bumper up in the airdam area went bad. Same thing happened to mine only it didn't hit that high of temp. It would say -30* then 120* on a 50* day

- that is most likely the cause. The sensor is fairly cheap as I recall, and fairly easy to replace...

yeah you can try and clean it first. But i'd venture to guess it'll need a new one. My dad runs a body shop/dealer and he had a couple spare ones off other cars(ones that were pulled off parts that were used) and gave me one. He even put it in for me

I'd go with the sensor. I'd change it on spec as its a straight forward fix. Contact one of the Forum Parts vendors to make sure you get the correct part. I use Bob at Fichtner Chevrolet.

Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the ambient air temperature sensor electrical connector.
2. Remove the push-in retainer securing the ambient air temperature sensor to the lower RH side of the radiator support.
3. Remove the ambient air temperature sensor from the radiator support.
Installation Procedure
Important
The ambient air temperature sensor must be orientated so that the sensor probe end is inboard and the electrical connector is outboard.
1. Install the ambient air temperature sensor to the lower radiator support.
2. Install the push-in retainer to secure the ambient air temperature sensor to the radiator support.
3. Connect the ambient air temperature sensor electrical connector.

Most common problem is the sensor located on the passenger side of the radiator shroud near the bottom has gone bad. Cheap part to buy and easy to replace.
