Purchase Advice
This might get moved to the FS section, but I wanted a biased Z06 opinion:
I am deliberating a '02 Blk/Blk Z06 - 45K miles for $21K - with room in the budget to add cam/LT's/etc
or
'05 3LT Blk/Blk C6 M6 and most everything else other than Z51 - 8k miles - $31K - no play money
WWCFD?

Mine is no DD and though I've been in, but never driven a C6 Z06...I'd say C5 Z06.
The C6 Z seemed more luxury than mine which isn't what I was looking for. I'm sure driving it is a different story but I can't imagine it's the same.
I've definitely heard at least one story of one person who went from C6Z back to C5Z for the raw feeling.
I was on a track as a passenger in a 700HP C5 Hardtop with LG coilovers and a C6 Z06 with maybe headers. I also like the body better on the C5Z.
On my 04 Z06 I've got headers, intake, tune and a hurst billet plus shifter.
Although I haven't driven it very much since the shifter, I think the shifter added the most fun. The other stuff looks way cool and I'm pretty sure it changed the sound for the better. Since the car spun tires when it was stock I don't think it's that easy to tell how much power it gained from guessing.
I've got headers and intake on my truck also...I think that stuff makes it more fun to drive...but who knows if it was worth the money...
At this point I'd say, I've had fun. You only live once as they say...stay out of trouble...
I don't think I'd have it any other way...even with the trouble......I may live to regret saying that but it was fun while it all lasted...
I can't imagine not having fun in a Corvette, but still, C5 Z06 has done me well...I'd recommend it to anyone, stock or not...
Have a good one,
Grant

I love my 02ZO6 .Its all a vette should be ,agressive, loud, powerful, good looking. I have had many corvettes and I speak for a lot of us when I say that I usually move up when the price of the new style comes down to my budget.I will have a C6 but I am happy with what I have for now ! !

Well I guess then it depends on which you like the looks of better and whether you will enjoy messing around with the car. If you like the looks equally and don't want to play around with the car...then get the C6. I like to play with mine and like the Z look so I chose the C5.

How much refinement do you expect/need from the car?
I owned a C5Z and was ultimately let down by the interior...stuff like the steering wheel, interior door handles, shifter, e-brake, etc. I feel almost embarrassed to admit this stuff though, since it comes across like a bad Consumer Reports review.
I rented a 2008 C6 in Las Vegas last October and it was markedly better in all respects with regard to my particular list of gripes. I immediately knew that a C6Z would pretty much be a slam dunk for me in particular as a result of my time spent with the C6.
To be clear though, the performance of my C5Z was outstanding, and I never had any issues of it. I miss the car to this day, and do regret selling it overall. Most of my gripes were simply from owning foreign made cars I suppose, and expecting a higher level of quality on the interior.

I always held back from buying a C5 due to the interior. Then my car popped up. For the price, there is nothing near as fun to drive and really after spending some time in it, the interior is nicer than it looks. With the current market, Id rather have 21k tied up in a car than 31k. Plus I could never get over the 05 steering wheel
