Title request for pending sale
I am in the process of selling a car through a broker and he has indicated that he has located a possible buyer for the car. The broker requested that I provide him with a copy of the title certificate.
I am guessing that the potential buyer wants to ensure that I am the real owner? Is this proper protocol in these types of transactions? I was wondering if i should block out my name and address from the copy, before sending it off - or would that just defeat the purpose of the request?
Thanks,
Mordi

He did ask for a "copy", so just make sure it says COPY on it. If it's financed, the lender won't release the title until its paid for anyway. You would do the same if you have the title in hand. The dealer knows that.

Just photo copy the front of the title. It'll be dead obvious that it's a copy. It's important for people to know that it's a clean title with no lean etc.
