what motivated you to purchase your C5?

My wife was getting ready to trade in her second mini-van in a row that was almost paid off, losing all her equity AGAIN!
I told her to buy a 90's vet and she could have both, a nice PAID FOR Venture vanto haul the grandkids around it and a Corvette to haul me around in. We went looking after Sunday breakfast for a couple of weeks. She found a 2000 Coupe and loved it.
We've put more miles riding "together" in this car than we have in any car since I was 18, (35 years married).
We're getting old together but life is good! The Vet make it even more worth sticking around for.
...and she hates my 500hp '80 Malibu. (I've had a ton of old Chevys to play with I and love messing with the fuel injection stuff.

The old TV show "Route 66" kindled my desire to own one. I was about 12 years old at the time. By the time I was 20, I bought my first Vette (1972 C3). Since then I have had 2 more, but bought my C5 after not having one for about 30 years. As soon as the C5 was introduced, I knew that some day I would own one.

I told my wife I wanted a new Vette, was driving a '92 C-4 at the time and she said if I could find an electronblue with a red interior it would be all right with her. I searched the net and found 2 at that big dealer down in AC, a coupe and a vert. The vert. was $6,000 more than the coupe so I bought the coupe with her blessings and had it ever since. I absolutely love it and it's a lot more car than the 2 C-4's and 2 C-3's I had before it.
My wife actually likes this one and joins me on all the trips I take with it. You would never think that I could make myself happy and my wife at the same time.

Never liked vettes. Thought them to be too big, too thirsty and too American having grown up with 4-banger Toyotas and Fiats and even had an autocross Fiat X-1/9 race car. Then a friend offered me a ride in a '68 Solo II BP Roadster and the small block V8 hooked me hard. But I was content to just drive the '68 at autocrosses; bought out my friend and enjoyed the car w/ my gf/wife. Sold the race car 92(?) and did not get hooked again till about 1999 or so when we started looking for a SS Camaro. One day drove by our local Chev dealer and he had a Torch Red '94 Coupe M6 and bought it the next day. Drove the '94 a couple of years. Autocrossed it a few times. But did not quite get attached to it as both the wife and I had problems getting in and out of it. Then the weekend after 9/11 drove by the same dealer and he had a used, lease return 2001 Torch Red C5 Coupe M6 (in-service date 9/7/2000). Traded in the 94 (he must have had it on his lot afterwards for 6-months or so then never saw it again). Love the C5. Taken some long trips (Colorado), autocrossed it 4-5 time a year and have slowly started to mod it. Then the wife saw a 2007 Machine Silver C6 coupe
A6 at the same dealer. Now we're a 2-vette family

I loved Corvettes’ since I was a teenager but like many of us, there was always one reason or another why I didn’t get one. Then about 4 years ago I decided I would get a C4. Every time I looked at C4s I would be drawn to the C5. My wife convinced me to get the Vette that I wanted and I became the proud owner of an ’01 Mag Red Coupe. No regrets…..sorry I waited so long.

A friend had one a C4 and took me for a ride. After that I paid some bills, went to IRAQ and watched this forum for some knowledge. I am happy with the car and the people i meet.

The salesman told me that girls would be ALL over me so it seemed like the logical response...
Not really but, I promised myself when I was 17 that I would get one the moment I was financially able. I don't break promises.

A tumor the size of a grapefruit on my thymus made me realize that life is to unpredictable so why not splurge on something I always wanted. All is fine now and enjoying my ride!

I had driven my dads 88 C4 after getting my license and always been around them but couldn't afford a vette till I was 26 and bought my first C5. I don't think I quit driving it around town for about 10 hours or so.

My dad had a yellow 63 split window fuelie with side pipes when I was born, but had to sell it because he had a new family.
Fast forward to me being 15. A semi truck car carrier loaded with Corvettes overturned on the interstate. My uncle bought all the cars off the trailer and proceeded to have a friend of his repeir the damage done to them from the accident. At the same time my Dad and his cousin bought a couple wrecked Iroc Camaros and had the same guy fix them. As well as a 1983 Hurst/Olds that was on the car carrier and my dad bought from my uncle. (and he still has)
I fell in love with Camaros and Vettes. I learned how to drive with the 1987 Iroc my dad had fixed up. We were at the shop every week watching the cars get repaired.
Fast forward to me being 21. After owning 3 Camaros it was time to buy a nice car to reward myself for graduating from college. I looked at used C4s but decided to order a brand new 1995 Z28. I still wanted a Corvette, but it was just not practical for me at that point.
Fast forward to me being 35. Now with 4 kids, finally settled in life I was able to add a Vette to my garage. I still have a Camaro as well. It's a dream come true.

I fell in love with the early vets and baby birds back in the day!! As I got older and a little more knowledgeable(and the bird got fat!) the vet was THE car! Couldn't afford one then. Fast forward many years later, went to the strip with my brother and got to make a pass in his hot rod cutlass and was hooked! Started looking for something to hot rod. Wife didn't like the cars I had been looking at,,and SHE found a Big Block 4speed 69 shark,,DONE DEAL!! 10 years later after a LON,HOT trip to the NCM,she sad I WANT AIR CONDITIONING!!! Found a 2000 FRC,got a good deal,,,added her to the stable!! The rest is history!!
