The car wrap is finally done. From pewter to a matte black. Lots of pics

I think it looks great.
Just wait until some moron asks you what color you plan to paint it because they think it's primered.
About 5 years ago I ordered a flat black BMC Chopper (custom motorcycle) to put on our floor (I owned a custom bike shop). It looked great. We always tried to be on the cutting edge of selling cool bikes, and the local idiots just didn't always get it... I had one guy that insisted that we include his choice of paint color with the purchase of that chopper that was black primer. When my sales manager tried to explain that it was the actual paint, the guy called him a moron and stormed out.
This went on for about 5-6 weeks, with one nut after another coming in and arguing about the "primer" finish on that bike. We put red pinstripes on it, and finally sold it to a guy from Chicago that thought it was the coolest bike he ever saw.

I've been watching your posts and the whole time I thought you were nuts. Now that it's done, I really wanted to hate it, but I like it! Looks real different and cool! Seeing you're from PA, maybe I'll get to see it at Carlisle in person. Nice job!

I hate to tell you but that will not last 7 years.
I have a business and do a lot of these. I've been in business for 9 years. Wraps haven't been around that long and neither has the printer they are using.
Because of where you are you might get 4 years if you dont drive in the winter.
In AZ 2 years is max on the roof and hood.
You should also ask what brand material they used. 3M is the standard.
Everything else is a crap shoot. The other brands haven't been out for 2 years

Totally impressive workmanship considering the concept....truly. A total wrap....who woulda thunk it?
I appreciate the concept but wonder why the hell anyone would make a beautiful pewter 'Vette look like a piece of crap.
Again, appreciate the idea but the results....for me....is counterproductive.

sorry, just MHO.....

Beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder.
I think it's awesome looking! Very stealth fighter like. This, combined with that other C5 that was on here recently that got painted flat-black, makes me want to have mine done up like that.

This is probably why no manufacturer does this-it does NOT sell. Still looks like a car in primer no matter what spin you try to put on it. Seems like a strange way to burn $2K+

About 35 years ago the purple paint on my 70 440 Cuda was peeling off and the warranty on paint from the factory was 90 days, so I sanded it down to bare metal (wow, what a job that was) and primed it in a dark gray primer. I was in my early 20's with a wife and a kid and didn't have the money to get it painted right away so I had to drive it like that for a few months. It looked very similar to what you have done. Just goes to show you how things change as far as what's considered cool. Not my choice but what matters is that you like it. They did do a good job from what I can see.

I like it, but that was a lot of work for a wrap. I would imagine they used a heat gun quite a bit to fit the contours. I striped my truck not long ago. The stuff I used was Oracal 851 vinyl that had a 8-10 year life. They say solid colors last longer than metallics.

My hats off to who ever did the work, must have been a PITA to do.
One thing I would have to disagree with you on is how it affects the paint. Urethane paints/clear absolutely positively need to breathe, even past the cure cycle that can sometimes take upwards of a year.
You have basically "choked" the paint, same goes for the 3M masks.
