according to the label on the can, it says clean the TB and intake with each oil change.. but i believe this was the first time since 1998 and 60k miles that it was cleaned LOL... but probably once a year should be sufficient

No, i did not remove the throttle body. when you take the intake off, you open the TB flap manually with your finger, spray the CRC cleaner in there, wipe it off with a MICROFIBER cloth please (you do not want to scratch the high polished internals).. i also sprayed it at an angle to get some into the intake manifold.. cant hurt.

people have done it, the results are hit or miss. mostly miss due to too much air or something coming in.. dont quote me on this though, i read it a while back but cant remember correctly.

by the way, put a rag under the throttle body when cleaning it because the cleaner will spill out and you dont want that to happen...

lol.. ok i think i made a little mistake (perhaps not) but here is what happened. ive never cleaned a MAF before, so i read up on a lot of info before I did it.. the way the label on the can words it, it sounds like the blue arrow (see pic below) is the MAF sensor.. it says something about make sure the plastic nosle on the can doesnt touch "hot wires" or something along those lines... but i now believe that it is the thing inside the TB, which is the blow arrow.

well, i cleaned BOTH thoroughly.. soaked that plug (blue arrow) as well.. and everything is A-OK.. so no worries about anything folks. just make sure its dry before replacing it

You only did a small part of it... you need to do a Seafoam cleaning using an intake vacuum line. You will clean the entire top end of the engine... I do it every 20k miles or so on all of my vehicle.

BTW... the smoke show is awesome.

I couldn't believe the difference it made when I cleaned mine. The new throttle response was great. Unfortunately it killed my gas mileage. I just couldn't keep my foot out of the accelerator!
