In D, except for slowing down without applying brake, will down shift then.
If I'm in really bad stop and go traffic, may leave it in 2nd.

I keep mine in drive all the time. Mine doesn't do frequent shifting back and forth, but part of the reason for that is that in my tuning I had him disable the torque converter lock up function in 3rd gear. So my converter will only lock up in 4th now. I also had my 3-4 part throttle shift point raised too, so instead of shifting into 4th at the stock setting which was around 42 or 43 mph (which would lug the motor too much), under most throttle positions now it won't shift into 4th until closer to 48 or 49 mph. Makes a big difference in driveability that's for sure!

I like to downshift to 3 on winding or hilly roads.

Generally keep it in "D," but I will downshift or put it in another gear from time to time.

I keep it in D unless I'm going real slow and trying to look cool then I put it in 1st so it will growl and lunge if I tap the gas.

In the mid 90's we use to go thru a lot of transmissions in our squad cars ........... I talked to a GM transmission trouble shooter and he told me if we were in areas where the trans was to shift alot going thru different speeds .......... leave it in 3rd until oh highway maintaining higher speeds .......... haven't rebuild a tranny since.

In town driving .......... I'm in 3rd.

I also keep mine in "D" 90% of the time.
Sometimes down shifting on steep grades.

Hmmm....I can't find the "D" on mine for some reason.....it just has these silly numbers 1-2-3-4-5-6 and R for race.

I keep mine in D most of the time. I'll shift it into 3rd if I'm going down a long, steep hill and don't want it to gain momentum and exceed the legal limit in case a cop is sitting at the bottom. It beats riding the brake all the way down. There are other circumstances, but that would be the most common.
