General Exclaim UHP and Cooper Zeon are good tires at resonable prices.

I cannot wait to get rid of my Kumhos' They trammel like crazy after about 6,000 or so miles and make the car sound like a tractor inside. Many claim to love the Kumhos' but I can't wait to get rid of those cheapos.......You usually DO get what you pay for with price point tires.

For non-runflats, check out the Goodyear GS-D3s or Firestone Wide Ovals. For runflats - I ran a set of the Firestone Firehawks - very good tires.

I had them on my car to and they are LOUD, which is one of the reasons that I switched. The traction was pretty good however.

I am now using BF Goodrich KDW-2, and just love them...good in the wet AND the dry....I'll never own another Michelin ....

Always liked my near slick BFG KD tires, but they were DRY only, terrible in the rain, but as designed, superb in the dry summertime! I wish they were still being made, as they were a good balance of stiction and tread wear. Now BFG have even stickier virtually slick tires, but at half the tread wear index of the old KD, and the KDW-2, offered for more general high performance driving...the KDW-2s are almost as sticky in the corners and my old KDs, VERY easy to drive at the limit with no bad surprises, and are REALLY GOOD in the rain, something the KDs could never do.

I had 1 and half sets of expensive Michelins for rains, but found they were just too sloppy feeling. and here is real black mark....as the tread wears, there is a point at about 4/32nd remaining when all heck gives way and the remaining rubber will go away from the center of the carcass in about 30 to 50 miles, revealing the steel strands and acting in VERY dangerous ways, swaying to and fro.... When the 2nd set of rears did the same as the first set, I gave up and tossed all 4 of them away. I probably still had enough left on the fronts for another set of rears, but I had it with the dangerous, virtually instant wear out of the tire center once they got to thiner tread. Unsafe in my view...
The Michelins also made the car feel like the shocks were worn out..it was probably wobbly side walls, because when i got rid of them, the proper feel and handling came back instantly.

I have all ZO-6 suspension with tighter valved Bilstein Sports under my coupe and use every bit of the upgraded capability. I plan on going coil-over for more adjustable control one of these days. Tires that WORK WELL with the suspension are a necessity...and it was not the Michelins....

I'm now back with BFG and very happy with the KDW-2 and encourage everyone to at least consider them. They have a nice looking pattern, behave well wet and dry, and are giving very good wear service for the aggressive way I drive....

I have General Exclaim UHP on my 2000 Vert A4 with C6-Z06 suspension and Firestone Wide Ovals (Z06) on my wifes 2001 Z51 Vert MN6. Great tires, wet and dry.

JB.
