No comparison really...This unit uses GPS to block out false alarms. The Valentine does not even have a method to block out false alarms. The Valentine is just you everyday (yesterday's technology radar detector) that has a claim to fame of the directional arrows. The only thing you can really compare is the Escort 8500 to the Valentine, that would be more of a like to like comparison. Comparing the Valentine to the Escort 9500 ix is not really a fair comparison (for the Valentine).
Do a search on Google, there is some info out there but not much as it just is not a fair comparison.

sorry man. i think the arrows and bogey counter win hands down.
even with GPS this one still just goes beep.
i do wonder about a situation where you have two x band radars at a mall opening doors and a cop with an x band. i think the 9500 will tune them all out where the V1 will tell you there are three radars instead of the two you see every day.
can anyone confirm this?
thanks.

My V1 was stolen so I purchased a friends used 8500. Once learning that the Escorts have the multiple radar readouts, I am happier with the 8500 over the V1.
Check out the (ExpertMeter) display pic below to see what I mean about the multiple radar readouts. Not a bogey counter, but a meter for every radar detected.

Not trying to start a debate here, just passing on some info I learned after purchasing an Escort 8500 (also applies to the 9500ix). You DO receive mulitiple radar readouts on the display with a strength meter for each. You can even see the exact frequency of the radar if you were so inclined. The reason I mention this, is it applies to your mall door scenario. The detector logs the false alarm frequency to the gps location so a cop with another frequency (different frequency, same band) can't hide under cover of the door frequency.

I have both the V1 and the 9500ix....The Escort 9500ix wins hands down, not even a contest!!!

8" invisicord is not long enough to reach
I just recieved my 9500ix. I finally decided to upgrade from my 7500. I was using the same bracket and 8" invisicord included in your kit mounted to the my driver side visor mount. I didn't realize that the input for the power to the 9500 is now on the opposite side as compared to the 7500. Having the power input on the other side means the 8" invisicord is not long enough to reach! I recieved another 8" cord with my recent order.
Can I exchange it for a 12" invisicord?

Melting Slicks
Radar detectors are legal here, just wondering if the cops can detect that you are using one with their equipment (VG-2 or Spectre). Do these units use any type of "Stealth" or "Shadow Technology" such as the Beltronic units?

I just recently bought the 8500, and while it works wonderfully, my vette is so loud that I can barely hear it go off. It did however already save me from acting the fool in front of a cop.

Here is a Spectre III test done by the GuysOfLidar.com and the results are in feet. The Escort 9500ix will have the same Spectre III detection distance as the Escort 9500i because they have the same antenna.
Here is another test done by SpeedZones.com

Escorts are outstanding units. I had the 8500 for 3yrs now and I cant tell you how many times its been dropped and it still works like the day I bought it. That is serious durability quality!
It has paid for itself a dozen times over
