Question: Are C5 Z06 Selling?
I see that the C5 Z06's are always being posted in the for sale section is everyone having success selling their C5 Z06 on the forum or any where else (where else, autotrader, ebay, etc)? Also what is the asking range for the Z06 and why i ask I am looking to sell my Z06 which is a 2003 with all the options (modded interior with side moulding and the car is red with 32,000 miles)?
All help is appreciated.

I can speak for what I've seen and experienced in my neck of the woods. The Corvette market seems to be getting very compressed with a flood of C6's on the market. The prices listed on most C5 cars advertised is not even close to what they are selling for. A 2002 Z is booked at $19k- 22K in nice condition with average "Corvette" miles. The 03 Z's are bringing $22-24K, and my last 04 1 owner Z with 29K miles was purchased for $25K because the dealer offered the guy $24K. I sold my Z and bought a 1 owner 2005 1SB Z51 coupe in mag red for $25.5...That's what Carmax was offering the guy Very low mile cars still bring better bucks but low miles for these cars are generally under 20K. I'm in the South East so I'm sure things are different elsewhere.

I know KBB can sometimes be off. I looked and a 2001 Z with 30k miles, they have listed for $20-23k from fair to excellent, respectively. (This is my target.)
Look also at NADAs website and Edmunds. I have found their prices to be a little more realistic. When it comes down to it, the true market dictates price, so see what people are selling equivalent cars in your area for. They tend to be higher for Vettes when compared to the website prices. Though a word of caution - the market is getting real soft though and I have seen some inflated asking prices just sitting. I think their are alot of "feeler" sales out there.
I am waiting to find a Z south of $25k. With the market continuing to go south and the colder weather coming to most parts of the country, prices will most likely continue to fall.
Good luck to you.

I found mine off ebay. I was watching 3 including the one I purchased and all 3 sold before the auction ended. I could not buy from this forum because they were so much higher. The dealers were high as well. I got a good deal from someone like you. Good luck.

I see so many Z's listed at $30K+ but I think those are people who are not motivated to sell the car. I was looking last night and saw an 02' Z06 all stock with 38,000 for $38K, are they crazy? I think the cars priced in the mid $20k range are selling, I bought my 03' earlier this year for $26K.

I threw mine up on a couple local Craigslists and the local paper at 18.5 k and would have taken 18 k. It is a 01 MY with 84k miles and has the usual bumps and bruises you would expect for a high mile ride and did not get a single call or e mail. Now that the 06 and up Z 06s have fallen below 50k I had toyed with the idea of getting one. It is a buyers market to be sure.

The market sucks for those selling their Z's right now. My '02 Z06 with $21k in mods (57k miles) is currently on Autotrader.com and I'm asking $29,750. I've gotten a few calls from interested parties trying to low ball me by offering $22-24k.

I'll keep mine at these prices.
Back in the late '70's and early '80's you could buy late 60's, early 70's muscle car for next to nothing. Many were destroyed by young owners with little experience driving Hi HP cars. Those that remain and weren't abused or have been totally restored are worth a fortune now.
From what I read on the CF I think that trend will continue. Many of these cars will be bought on the cheap, hot rodded and raced to death. The few that remain will increase in value over time. Just my 2 cents.

What is paid is the market value.
One poster made the comment, I agree, the market value is what is paid for anything.
I live in the Pacific NW and I found the "market" a little higher than other areas. I would have traveled to buy but found my new Z (a 2002 Red Zo6 with 14k miles) 200 miles away and at a price (Mid 20's) I was willing to pay. So on that day the value for that car was known.
I think the market still has some adjusting but not at the high rate of the last year. I believe the C5s are going to continue to drop as any used car does as newer and less "used" cars become available. The LOW millage ones will hold more of their value but they too will lose a percentage.
If I was still looking I would not let the thousand or even two make the decision about the car, I make it on the "I have to have THIS car" feeling I get when the right one comes along. I used this same method on my wife too.

KBB never means anything. It's a tool for the ignorant to pay dealers asking prices. KBB is the greatest thing to happen to used car dealers. MMR and successful ebay auctions are the only two ways to find out accurate market information.

Conversely, I watched several C5's (not all of them Z06's) come up for sale and sold on this forum before I had a chance to give it so much as a fleeting thought. You snooze, you lose.
I bought my 2004 Z06 just a couple of weeks ago for $31,000. This one had slightly more than 10,000 miles with a B&B exhaust and Callaway CAI, fresh tires, and an extended GMPP until 2011 or 77,000 miles.
I think I got a helluva bargain.

When I was looking for my Z06 last year, I looked at plenty of cars priced at over 30K, low mileage, that were beat to hell. Just because you see cars priced high, described as mint, low mileage, perfect, doesn't mean that they are. Maybe thats why many are not selling.

I wouldn't be so quick to give these cars away. The C5 Z06 cars I feel will be worthy for a long time. Corvette, 400 HP, 6 speed, excellent handling and fuel efficient..great looks...more fun than a Vespa !
I think some of the LOW prices mentioned above are not realistic. Will someone sell an 03 or an 04 well below market value ? Sure..Does that set the new market value ?
no.
