When I am entering a hard sweeper I find it less distracting looking at my RPM's through my window than on my tach...but i am just weird that way??

Love mine -- a much faster reading instead of looking down -- especially in speed trap areas. (Concept is nothing new -- my Dad's '98 Buick Park Avenue has exactly the same thing.)
Agree with above comments -- there are many C5s available, and if you look at KBB and NADA averages, there is no added value for loaded Vettes (except for two tops on coupes). So, since such options are essentially "free," why not pick out a Vette that has HUD? (If you decide you don't care for the feature, just turn it off.)

I love mine. The postion I drive in I have to shift a little to see the gauges and with HUD I don't. The biggest reason for me though, is that I am color blind and I have a hard time picking up the needle against the background on the gauges. Normally I don't have the problem but on the C5 I do. If I didn't have HUD I'd be looking into changing the faces on the gauges

I enjoy the HUD.

I'm the opposite. I have it and wouldn't buy a 'vette without it. It just makes driving feel smoother, don't have to take my eyes off the road to see the speed. And if it is distracting for some reason, you can always turn it off.
It's all personal preference though, drive a corvette with one and one without and make the decision based on which you liked better!

I wouldn't buy a Vette without a HUD.
Well worth it.

Like some others, I have had a vette both with & without it. I prefer it and would only consider not having it for lets say...550 hp...or something equally as cool.

It is a great feature to have-in fact when I purchased my vette 6 weeks ago- I walked away from a nice corvette reasonably priced without HUD.
I turn mine off during the day-but use it at night. It is a great feature that you can use or not use. Having HUD will not hinder most people from buying who do not want it-but it will hinder those from buying who do want it!

do you know how many people install it aftermarket?! And its $$ to do it, and its a buggar. Im about to do mine. If you drive it like you stole it, autocross, etc etc its so nice to see your speed, rpm, etc without having to ever check!
When I buy the C6 (not selling the C5, just adding a new toy) its a mandatory option for me!

The HUD is definately not exact with RPM's and Speed (lags a little when you use the skinny pedal) but it is very useful when driving at night. I dim all the dash lights and go into stealth mode at night and use the HUD to give me a summary of collant temp and other necessities. Definately helps you concentrate on the road more. I love mine.

not sure
i have it and it is slowly slipping down, apparently some type of pin that is wearing out. i love the hud but because i cant adjust it quite to my field of view i just turn it off. it is annoying to have it and not be able to adjust it to the field of view. i can see the top half of the readout on the glass but have to raise my head to see the whole thing. i know that it is going to be an expensive repair but also feel like it is a waste of money for a luxury...does that make sense? i think i will just turn it off....sigh!!
