Default Its not a midlife issue

I have had this car for two months now and have noticed that I get either of two comments – “that is a nice car” or “is it a midlife issue”. I am 39 and wanted a first generation Camaro since I was 14 but it never worked out with other life priorities. I have also always wanted a Corvette and it turns out that at this point in life I could make my own wish come true and I chose a C5 with no regrets. If I had chosen a gen. 1 Camaro I know people wouldn’t ask if it was a midlife issue. Any way I have stopped explaining myself to people and just say yea, it’s a midlife issue and move on. If it was a midlife issue it wouldn’t be any of their business anyway. I also hear “well you are lucky you don’t have kids…” I am not lucky that way, I find it quite unfortunate, but that’s how it went for me and it is what it is. I bought this car for my enjoyment and not for what people think and I sure wouldn’t say “is that your midlife crisis..”

Actually you're too young for a mid life crisis.

I hear the same thing. The only difference is I am 60 years old. My reply is that I hope it is a "mid-life" issue. The truth is that I have loved corvettes since I was a teenager. But like many other corvette owners I had to wait to get the kids raised before I could even think of owning one. When the C5 came out I said that was the one. At 58 years old I bought an 02 coupe. We love it. I am still working, but every chance we get we take it out for a cruise.
I have been told that I look ten years younger when I am behind the wheel. It sure makes me feel younger.
Enjoy your vette. Pay no attention to what folks have to say about it.

at least they aren't asking if your got the vette cause you have a small wiener Don't worry about those comments. Your friends and family know why you bought it and the rest of the people don't matter

Default Why do you care?

Why even converse with them? Just look the other way and get on with your business. You really don't need to waste your time with ignorant people!

Well I bought mine when I was 22. Guess I was going through a quarter life issue.

Whether you're 20 or 40 or 80 someone is going to make a comment about ownership. We've all...heard them all.

Fact is you got your car because...you wanted one. Not because of what someone else thinks. So...go enjoy your car!

I am 61 so slightly beyond the midlife thing. Someone asked me the other day if people don't tell me that I am too old for a Corvette. I responded, that they can't catch me to tell me that.

I assumed that everyone's supposed to have a midlife crisis at 50, so I went out and bought a brand new tablesaw for my shop...Hmmmmm, just didn't feel right.

So at 52 I went out and bought a brand new 2004 Z06 Corvette....Felt just right.....Midlife crisis resolved......

I been in love with Corvettes since I first sat in one. I had Volkswagen's, Honda's, BMW's (3), Toyotas and Porsches. All of them either brand new or almost brand new. But when I bought my used c5 vert that was several years old and had 30k miles. It felt like home...I never had such a great feeling with any other car

People who ask those questions, whether about midlife crisis or whatever, are the ones with the personal issues. We corvette owners MAY be the only sane ones!

I received the same remarks when I purchased my first vette back in 2001. A 1982 Collectors Edition. I was 39 back then. I had to wait just like you house, family, & bills. But you know what I did it and now I am on my second Vette.

Enjoy your Vette and let them keep making does remarks...........at least you have one.
