Guys:

I have an 04 Z06 (~13,000 miles). Its not a Daily Driver. I got it new. I am still on my factory battery and so far no issues (fingers crossed). The battery has never needed a charge or given me an issue thus far. Car was made Jan 04 so the battery is at least 4.5 yrs old.

How long are these batterys good for ? Should I be looking for a new one even though its still a good battery ? I have been seeing battery related issues lately on the forum.

How long did your batteries last ? I know mine is a Z06 battery which may be differnt than the stock C5 battery.

be prepared to replace it the next time you try to start it. at this point it can fail at any time with no warning.

I had to replace my 04's battery in May, 2007. It would go dead if not driven for a week or so.

My '03 Z06 battery died this year, very close to the 5 year mark. Never had a single issue, so I feel like that's a pretty decent service life.

My original lasted 6 years. 4 years on the second. Course it sits 5 months of the year on a trickle charger here in Iowa.

My 03 sometimes sits for 2 weeks without starting. I don't use a tender. It has never failed to start. It has the original Delco battery. I don't believe in fixing something that ain't broke. I've read too many forum posts about new batteries (red tops, yellow tops, etc,etc) that failed. Do as you wish, I'm waiting for an indication I need one. Bear in mind, mine is not my daily driver.

I don't know there was an Optima battery in there but,it's not in there anymore.

I bought my vert new in Jan 98. Keep it on a tender when not driving.
Replaced it in April 04. It was still OK, but I thought that was long enough. Why take chances?

Mine is also an 04 (bought in Jan of 04) and still have same battery and never charged it over winter too. It says on top it is a 7 year battery.

2 Weeks before I got an Optima Red Top. I didn't want to chance messing up the computer under it.

9 months. I bought my 04 in Jan of 04, the Delco battery would no longer take a charge in Sept of 04. I bought an Optima Red Top and have had no problems since.

My '04 battery died last week. Left it sitting for 2 months without starting so it gave up the ghost.

My 99 still has the original and I have had no issues with it. I've owned the car about 2 years now. It was my DD up until March of this year.
