1999 Corvette- price check
1999 Corvette, 6 speed. Bose stereo. HUD. Active handling. 25,000 miles. One owner, traded in at a dealer. The dealer has it listed for $22,300.
I checked nadaguides.com and it says the car should go for.
Low retail......... clean retail ......... high retail
$21,150............ $23,375............... $24,725
Would appreciate some real world thoughts on this price, being how the sales seem slow lately.
Thank you.

In my opinion you can do a lot better than that seeing that the prices of cars have taken a big dive, I think right now a car like that should go for around 18,500 max. Last year I paid just a bit more for my 2002 Z51 with 19,000 miles on it mint cond. It also depends on the market where you live, Around here I would say 18,500-19,500 and no more.(Reno Nevada) Shop around in your area, Try the paper, Cars dot com and such.
Just my opinion.
If you get a 2002 or newer you get a bit more HP and a lot of the probs are almost nill.

You can get it for under 20k. If its a real pristine car I'd go for it. A year ago I got my 99 frc with 25k miles for under 21k. I think you can do better in today's market..........good luck

Just remember, "low retail" with nadaguides.com is code for "wholesale price." Accordingly, that should give you some idea of what the dealer may have invested in it. That said, he may have even more in it because of the low mileage -- and he may also know about 5% of C5s came in white, making it relatively rare. Yes, these are all "what ifs," but in the end, any car purchase is more of an emotional decision rather one based on logic. If you like it, can find no comparables, then go for it -- don't look back -- and ENJOY!

If your not willing to walk after you offer him 19.5k, your going to get screwed Do not walk in there with the intention of buying it. I've bought 2 used vettes and a new car in less than 3 years. Trust me, that vette will be on the lot for weeks and they know it but will never tell you that.
Also be ready for the "We can't sell it to you for that or we'd go out of business" response. yet they gave the poor sucker 17k for the trade-in and told him: "It will be hard for us to sell a 10 year old car"

IMO that's a little high. Wouldn't pay but between $19-20K for the car.

That dealer has no more than 17ish in it. The question is, how much money are you willing to let them make on you?? Keep in mind, the market/economy for automobiles is in a serious rutt.
p.s. nada is sky high on their values, kbb is more realistic, but ultimately pay whatever your comfortable spending if shes truly "the one." I just bought a vette after looking for well over a year, let me know if you need any advice!
