Which Ramps to Buy?
I'm considering purchasing a set of ramps for the primary purpose of oil changes. I've read all about making my own, used the jacking and stacking of wood method, etc and think I just want to buy a set to simplify things for getting the front of the car up. I'm OK with jacking the rear.
I've checked out the web sites for Raceramps and Rhino and wondering if there are others I should consider. What specifcs should I be looking for? I'm guessing 1500 lb capacity per ramp is adequate. I know I need a gradual incline, is there a certain incline angle I should look for, like not more then 9 degrees or something?
Thanks for any input

I went through this just a month ago.
I asked myself, what do I want the car on when I'm UNDER it???
Race ramps.
The two piece model fits in my CE hatchback!!

I have race ramps and love them. The write up on how to make your own ramos looks good but I fell much safer under the car with race ramps. 8" of lift works fine for me and they are very light weight.

If your car is not lowered, $30 Rhino ramps (12,000 lb capacity) will work perfectly well. When I used them for my C5, I placed a couple of welcome matts underneath the front of each to prevent sliding. The rubber spoiler lip drags a bit, but since the Rhinos are plastic, no harm is done.
Now that my car is lowered, I bandsaw-cut some 6x6 blocks of wood at a very narrow angle. The get my car up high enough so that I can fit my hydraulic floor jack under the front. Once jacked up, I can use either jack stands (for brake work) or the Rhino ramps to support the tires.

I had rhino ramps (very cheap) and used a couple pieces of 2x10 to extend the ramp, lower the angle. A trick I learned on this forum. They worked fine.
Then there was sale on this forum of Race Ramps and I bought the two piece 10" lift models. They were not cheap... but... I love them.
I did my header & tunnel plate install by driving up the race ramps, taking out the ramp section, then jacking the rear and putting the rhino ramps there. Best of both worlds and the car was solid as a rock..

I have the Rino Ramps but can't use them on the Vettes... Went big when I got my Race Ramps, XT 2 piece, extenders and the back wheel stands. All 10" high.. One this I did find out on my car being lowered after she is up on the front ramps I cant get my low profile jack under it. So I have to look at the roll up's to give me an additional 2-3 inches for the jack....

I used Rhino Ramps on mine - no problem doing the oil change.

Boy, a flurry of late entries pimping the rhinos has made me think. Now I'm thinking invest the $30 on them and see how they work for me. If not to my liking then spend the several hundred on the Race Ramps and use the rhinos for rear wheel support when needed as many have mentioned. I'm not under the car much so don't think I'd be worried about the rhinos.

Race ramps 10"Hx 67" long
My Z06 runs right up the Race Ramps 10"H X 67" long model. But the only real problem is that I need 14" height.
I also welded up to sets of ramps that measure 14" H X 86" long and that cost less than the 1 set of Race Ramps.
