What was the top speed of a 2002 Z06 rated at by the factory. I'm making a sign board for my car and need this information if any knows.

The Z06 is gear limited in 5th, since it has aggressive gearing. One way to get a higher top speed without changing horsepower is to swap for less aggressive gearing like womanly 2.73 rear gear from an old automatic C5. You will have a higher top speed but it will take you alot longer to get there so that's no fun.
For ~200 mph, you'll need nearly 500 rwhp and something like a C6 Z06 trans since its geared less aggressively.

It isn't because of the transmission. It is because the coupe takes less horsepower to drive through the air. The FRC body style is not as aerodynamic and thus slower. In 99 and 00 when the FRC had the same engine and tranny as the coupe they were also slower.

I do agree though that the coupe has a slightly better coefficient of drag so all things being equal except body style the coupe has a higher top speed.
