Default After reading about the Hybrid being upset, I had to share

OK I just read the thread about the hybrid driver. I can't believe this just happened to me yesterday but I HAVE to share.

I was getting gas yesterday when a new Camry hybrid pulled next to me at the station. He asked me what my license plate said. I hesitated but told him. Boy did that pi$$ him off. He then started bashing American cars, people who drive vettes, & then told me that is was because of arrogant people like me that the gas cost as much as it does now. I asked him what kind of mileage he was getting with the hybrid? He stuck his head inside to check & proudly boasted he was getting 32mpg but it was new and will do even better when it is broke in. He asked me how my gas guzzler was doing. I looked inside & (I had just been on the road for 200+ miles @ 68mph average) & stated 31mpg. He said right.......so I showed him the gage & how many miles since it had been reset. All I said was new Camry....99 Corvette hmmmm. NOT ONE WORD was said after that. I stood there whistling while I topped off the car & he just was either embarrassed or still chewing on his foot. Either way, I just put a mark in the winners column for vettes. My day was so much better after that & I didn't even mind the $68. fill up.

BTW my license plate is NO4N4ME.......... I have an 99 A-4 with 2.73 gears...

Sweet. Zippy most likely paid more for his hybrid Camry than I paid for my 04 CE ( well it's kinda used ). Hey, I don't need a new car.

Great story-people just can't believe the mpg on a Corvette. I tease me wife sometimes when asked which car we should take out-I'll tell her to leave her Honda at home we'll take the Vette-it's easier on gas.

He probably just traded his "gas guzzler" in on his new Hybrid not realizing it may take him years to get back what he over paid for the Hybrid.

Naw... Just a great story. Here's to positively changing the image of Corvette owners from uncarring gaz guzzlers to conscience protectors of our natural resources, one ignorant outsider at a time!

Good story, it made me chuckle. Ultimately it is better for our environment if we burn less fuel – how ever we do it. The price of fuel is up not because of “our consumption”, its because of increasing world demands by developing countries like China and India. These countries are developing because manufacturing is moving to them because of the cheap labor, now there is extra money there to buy cars and gas, so the demand for gas goes up. So I am sure some of those parts on his car are made in China, he is contributing to the high cost of fuel.

Not all are. I love my vette's but I do not throw it in anyone face like some of these tree huggers do. The hybrid drivers that are a holes and throw it in your face I just tell them to F off and say that global warming is a hoax. That sets them off!!!!!!

I think it's pretty sad the guy couldn't even figure out the license plate.

I can't stand people who drive foreign cars AND bash Americans. Don't they realize how all these little actions and purchases contribute to the world economic imbalance? (or, more accurately, the declining US standard... you can't blame other countries for working hard, smart, and growing at our expense.) We collectively need to wise-up before we completely give away the store.

what most of these people dont realize is that it is so UN friendly to dispose of those cars when they are done that they are about 5000% MORE enviornmently harmful than any fossil fuel car besides my vette is a hybrid it eats gas and rubber

His Camry hybrid was only getting 32mpg? With the extra costs a hybrid Camry has over it's 4 cyl base model, I would expect better.
