Comfort is very subjective. The type of suspension your vette has, and if you have run flat vs non-fun flat tires. My wife prefers a BMW sedan to the vette for a long trip, but the vette doesn't bother me a all. Now if you ask what is more fun to drive, the vette (hands down).

I've taken my car on trips to Chicago and Nashville - both about 7-8 hours each way. The car has been very comfortable to me.

Hi
From a senior Corvette owner, I have a 2003 C5 that I just love, I have had two other vettes but that was a long time ago, this one is the best by far. I look forward to driving my car, we have been on a few 3hr rides and other than getting out of a car that is almost scapping the ground it is great. I do have a six speed and heavy traffic gets to be a little tough but on the open road it's just terrffic. One other thing these cars reqiure very little maintenance unlike my old vettes that needed spark plugs and valve adjustments to often to make it fun. My wife and I look forward to taking off the top and going to the beach on a hot summer day. These cars are a little noisy on the road but we are getting use to that, but with the top off on the freeway forget trying to hear the radio or your wife, but the car sounds great so who cares.

Good luck on your purchase, Ron

But again, I have a z and don't know if thats why I disagree. With that being said, If I had the choice of driving a vette or a benz from here NJ to Cali, I still will pick a vette.. He He...
I have noticed comfort issues with the seats for long drives also. Your description of the seats feeling "cushionless" is inline with my experience. I recently did a drive from LA to San Francisco (6 hours) and little over halfway, I got up and walked around a little and I was ready to go. In short I'd say the seat comfort is not terrible for long hauls, but noticeable after hours of driving. I'm considering swapping to C6 seats... does anybody have any opinions on the C6 seat comfort in comparison to the C5?

I got some Escalade seats. Want to test fit?

I've done a few 3.5 hour trips and found the ride just as comfortable as any other car.

If I have the top off and its warm my back starts to get sweaty after awhile though and that gets uncomfortable really fast. I haven't found a good way to sit that "breaths" well apparently. Did not have this problem in other vehicles with the windows down, hot, etc..

I would love to take the top off and drive to the west coast through the countryside.

I took my 08 CTS to 550 miles each way to Aiken a couple of weeks ago. I made the same trip in the vert last fall. Even Mrs. WKMCD says the vette is better on trips than the Cadillac. Who would have thought. Last fall, I was rested enough after the drive home I went out and played 18 holes. Didn't do it after making the trip in the CTS.

It's a great car for trips and the best part is merging is no problem.

Default F55 suspension helps

I find that long trips with the suspension set on Touring, the car is very comfortable. My wife even stated that she was surprised at how well the car rides on long trips. Her only complaint is the lack of adjustability of the passenger side air vents.

I drove my car 1,500 miles in 2 1/2 days and was very comfortable. Much more comfortable than my '67.

Ohio to Colorado and back in the C4.

Columbus to Bowling Green to Nashville to Bowling Green to Columbus in the C5.

The C5's ride is a bit more refined but both were comfortable.

Average @ 30 MPG on both trips.

I've driven mine from OKC to Colorado Springs and back, from OKC to Bowling Green and back and found it to be quite comfortable.

I just did a 4.5 hour trip to Vegas from LA and then back and it was great. It was more comfy then my old Lincoln.

Never bought a Vette yet? What are you waiting for. You got to do it. I just picked up an 02 Z06. Love the car. I just hit 54. Sure, at our age, backs get sore no matter what you drive. But in a Corvette, the pain is alot different. Kind of a mellow, relaxing kind of sore.

Where I live you have to drive 5-6 hours to get anywhere. I have driven Corvettes almost exclusively for the past 35 years and never had a comfort issue. I even remember driving 10 hours straight to Tulsa, OK to pick up my 86 year old grandmother in my 1977 Corvette (back in '77) and bring her stratight back to West Texas (another 10 hours) - no complaints from the passenger side. The C5 is a BIG improvement over those seats. Since I have added Dynamat/Ensolyte, Michelin A/S ZPs and new VetteEssential seats with nearly 2-inches of additional under-padding in places, it is like driving on a cloud.

Note: Having a fat *** is also a plus - had to be good for something!

A GREAT road car! Comfortable, handles and performs, while still getting high 20's for gas mileage! I've had several 500 plus mile days in mine, and loved every minute of it!

04 Coupe from Orlando to North GA about 500 miles each way, it was more comfortable than my previous 02 Acura TL because of the extra lumbar support. I have the 1SC sport seats with all the adjustments, it's easy to find a comfortable setting.
