Cars in Magazines
How does one get their ride into a magazine? Every time i sit down to read a car mag I see several articles of rides from DIY people and would like to know how you get your ride into one.

It's really a lot of different factors.
I am wanting to see mine in print as well. I think it really important to hit a lot of the really big shows, and not just the big corvette events. Things like Power Tour, the world of wheels shows, Carlisle, and Cruise in. Thats one way to get the car noticed as a lot of editors, and rags send people out to see the cars.
Another way is to have the push of a well known shop. Something different of special out of a well known shop will usually help get a car in . Sometimes cars get snatched up from online.
I have asked around and the one constant seems to be that they were approached at some point or another.
These are feature cars I am talking about. If your just trying to get into a readers rides section you can always submit photos to the mag's. Each Magazine has a way for folks to submit their cars for consideration; read up and take advantage of that aspect as well.
I am basically going to wait until my build is nearing completion and then start shopping it around, and see what happens.
Good Luck and I hope this helps!

Go to large shows where magazine editors or photographers attend. For corvettes it usually is Funfest, NCM events, Carlisle, and Bloomington. My show truck I sold a couple years ago was featured in 3 magazines and my vette will be in corvette enthusiast sometime this year.

Try sending some pics and a description of the car to the magazine and see if they are interested.

Vette Magazine has a section called "Glass Menagerie" with a contact E-Mail address. Just send a photo of your car and a description and you stand a chance of getting in the Mag. I sent mine in last year and made the June 07 issue with this picture........

I personally invite all of the editors from various magazines throughout the hobby to Corvettes at Carlisle - so yes, attending Corvettes at Carlisle would be a good angle to venture.
Best of luck,
Lance
