how often do you shift over 4000 rpm's?
When i am doing a little spirited driving I never let the rpm's get above 4000k. Am i being a wuss? Should i drive it to 5.5k rpm's occasionally? What are your "spirited" driving habits?

To show you i have a sense of humor i will bash myself. "Son it isn't spirited driving if your shifting at 4k".

You gotta wind it up to full song once in a while or else the LS1 will turn into a Briggs & Stratton over time. Go on... you won't hurt it. The rev limiter is there for a reason.

Your ECM will learn your driving habits. My 2000 FRC wad in the Valvoline Dyno display at the National drags a few weeks ago.I'd been driving pretty easy since I bought it in Jan. They did 13 runs on the dyno running it up to 6000-6100 RPM the ECM learned that it was going WOT and adjusted timing nd air/fuel as it went and gained on each set of pulls. It went from 323.5hp/324.76tq on the first to 338.92hp/345.91tq on the last. Two days later went to test and tune for my firs time ever with this car cut a 13.4 /108 hitting the rev limiter in 3 gears on the last (5th) pass I had a good clean pass of 13.08/110.23....Yes it actually helps to LET IT RIP sometimes!!
