Painted rear fascia....DRAMA plus pics..(long).
I decided to paint the rear fascia as many on here have done before me. (thanks to those who learned from mistakes and posted, making it easier for me). I have been in what has been about a month and a half long process of painting my fuel rail covers and other stuff and am so tired of painting that Ifigured I had better get ALL of the painting that I plan on doing myself out of the way RIGHT NOW. Needless to say learning and appying the proper prepping, sanding, painting, sanding some more (and more often than not painting again) techniques have been a real learning experience for me. Among those, I have learned many things, the most important being I WAS NOT MEANT TO BE A PAINTER! My impatience and ADD just work against everything that you need when painting.
Having said that, so far everything looks good. Not one project has seemed to go without a glitch of some sort, but I guess many rarely do. This was no exception. This time it was a faulty nozzle on the can of paint. Yeah. Talk about panic! I got everything taped, prepped and sanded, and I started painting the bottom underneath first and the nozzle got stuck in the ON position. Luckily I was able to pull it away from the car before it sprayed too much in one spot and ran and I just so happened to have a piece of card board laying on the floor by where I was working, or I would have had a satin black trail painted from my garage to my yard. I was able to get the can (still while spraying, mind you) into my yard and away from the house, cars, etc. and I ran into get some pliers to pull the nozzle out. Once I did that, the can still was spraying so I just stuck it upside down into the dirt by one of my trees...(so much for all I did during Earth Day/ Green Week last week). I then had to run to Walmart, with paint all over me to get another can because I was running out of daylight. Anyway, the rest went of without a hitch and here are the pictures. I gotta say, it looks pretty good. Now I just hope that the paint holds up and doesn't chip or flake over time.....

Looks great! I really like those blackouts...I think I'm gonna have to do that on mine. I have a TR Z06 that I've been going back and forth on blackouts or painting the rear fascia.
thanks for the pics

yeah, I love the look of the blackouts. It totally changes the demeanor of the car
I don't really like the license plate and third brake light as much because they are attached with doublesided tape. IMO they would look better if they were blacked out with that Nightshade tint, but that is way down the list..and besides I'M DONE WITH PAINTING STUFF FOR A WHILE!!

Looks great! Looks like you used a simi-gloss black. Got to admit, I wish I could of seen you with that spray can shooting all over the place What a classic

I used Krylon Fusion Satin and I really like the look with a very little shine as opposed to totally matte. And my neighbor saw me with the rogue can of paint. uhhhhh yeah.

thanks guys... it really does make it worth the drama when all your brethren speak up...
as for my garage.........it is a hot mess. I really need to get it cleaned out and organized this summer. What you can't see is a hot tub on the other side (which has been getting its use as a paint bench) and a bunch of other crap that forces me to park my work car outside.
