what about the 400hp 2005? Do the gears make up for 50 extra hp in the 01? Does the manual transmisson and the extra 35hp make the Z06 the beast?
They all seem equal to me. I would love to see all three line'em up with equal drivers.

The problem is your dealing with a lot of variables. If you take the driver and traction out of it, you still have cars with different gearing and engine torque curves.
IE if you have two identical cars except for the engines, you would think that the engine with the flatter and higher torque curve would accelerate faster.
It doesn’t make a lot of difference if one car has a few more pony’s at 6000 rpm’s it has to get to that rpm first.
Keep in mind this is all theoretical.

2001 Corvette Coupe/Convertible Acceleration Trans
Axle 0-60 MPH 1/4 Mile Improvement
A4 2.73 4.90 Sec 13.65 Sec .25 Sec
A4 3.15 4.75 Sec 13.50 Sec .25 Sec
M6 3.42 4.55 Sec 13.25 Sec .15 Se
The 2001 ZO6 (not listed-but it is equipped with 3:42 gearing also) (due a great deal to the overall build is faster than the times listed about), however it isn't that significant until the more refine/greater hp 2002.
I also believe that due to the fact that the A4 is a punch and go and has the better gears, that it would be the pick of the litter. Plus, I am assuming that the C6 A4 has the base 2:73 in it, so that is why I am ruling that one out.
Again, would love to see it or hear the results.

Um you must of forgot that the Z06 has the M12 Transmission with 3:42gears and is basically like a MN6 with 3:90 gears.

Indecently I just looked at the December 2001 issue of Car & Driver. Here’s their quote on the 02’ ZO6.
"The updated Z06 obliterates the previous one. Zero to 60 mph your thing? The new car scampers there in four seconds flat, 0.3 second quicker than the quickest '01 Z06 we tested and only 0.1 behind the four-wheel-drive 911 Turbo."
There is some real world testing #'s you can start with.
