I got 25% on my side windows an 5%(Limo) on the rear window about 1-1/2 years ago. In Texas there is no restriction on the back window. The tint looked really cool on my black car - just one problem - backing up at night was a leap of faith. Finally after nearly backing into a truck in a parking lot with his lights on behind me, I finally stripped all the tint off and went back with 30% on the sides and 15% on the rear this week - looks almost the same from the outside, but now I can see out the back.
Also, this time I painted in the dot-matrix on the rear glass since the film rarely adheres seamlessly in that area.

I say stick with one percentage all the way around im personally not a fan of cars with different shades of tint on (especially when you can see the difference). I usually go with 20%. Go with 35% if you dont want too dark but still a nice fairly dark look.

What's "legal?" Every state has different standards, and enforcement can be tough with significant fines in some places. Whatever state you're in (your profile doesn't say), contact your local and state police departments and ask "what's legal." They'll be glad to help. Good luck.

You will have to check with your state laws to see whats legal. Depends on your interior color too, I would go with 35 that is usually dark enough especially if you have a dark interior!

I have 20% on the back and 35% on the sides and it looks uniform the back glass darkened everything up. Also consider your interior. A darker interior will make it look darker too. I still have to put my windows down when backing up at night tho

Yep check with the state reg's before you have them tinted. I know in Maryland the next state over they are very strick. I have them pretty dark on my Corvette and was stopped by a Pa. trooper-he did a on site saftey inspection. I guess he didn't know where to start or didn't have the time-too loud, blacked out tail-lights,too dark tint so he just cut me a break and said "you passed-have a nice day". I'm there "really???"- I wanted to get it in writting for the next time I was stopped.
