Default 03 Z06 Clutch replacement

just got quoted $1800 ( from Tom Jumper - Atlanta )

thats for parts and labor to replace the clutch and flywheel ( it comes together from what they say )

I gotta do it , because it needs a new clutch.

sure does seem expensive though

That knocks your hat off in the river. I have never repalced one so I am not a good judge but it sure does seem high.

Zosixin wants to know if it is for a stock replacement or for an aftermarket and if the later which brand.

The last time I checked at a reputable shop it's around $900 in labor. It's a ridiculously complicated job in these cars. Sounds pretty fair.

FWIW I looked in the service manual on exactly what this job entails...

it is a pain in the donkey!!! basically everything rear of the engine has to come out of the car (including the rear axle).. I would pay the loot and be done with it..

The GM shop manuals allows 10 hours of labor to install a clutch in a C5.
So that is in the ballpark, depending on parts.

Call Ron @ Vengeance Racing. They can put a Textralia clutch in your Z.

Dang. Clutch replacement already at 72k miles? Does your car see a lot of track time or drag racing?

I bet you could probably get a better deal from a Supporting Forum Vendor and Vengeance has a great reputation.

that is a ridicuious price IMO. 10 hours @ $105/hr, are they performing open heart surgery or something? If its not too late shop around for some forum vendors in your area, a common price for clutch R&R is around 4-600 in labor and I'm sure for what they are charging you for an OEM clutch you could save some coin and get an aftermarket unit that will last longer and hold up better to the abuse.

Also, make sure to replace the slave cylinder and pilot bearing while you are in there... hopefully the dealer doesn't try and get you for an arm and a leg on those installs as well. good luck.

too bad you aren't in my area or I'd show you how to do it yourself for half that. its not a hard job at all.

Textralia OZ700-869.00
GM Slave 165.00
Labor 625.00

Total 1659.00 for a MUCH better than stock clutch.

In stock/Rack available

While you are at it, pick up a remote clutch slave bleeder, like the one that L.A.P.D. sells, and have it installed. Makes bleeding the clutch a piece of cake.
