Most Aggressive Cam for DD on Stock Heads?
Just looking for some info and feedback,
I want to install a cam this summer. I love the sound of an aggressive lope so that wont bother me and understand that idle may surge and buck at times.
Any recommendations on which aggresive cam for a daily driver on stock heads, springs and rods?

I don't know much about cams in the LSx world but I keep seeing a lot about the MS4 cam....don't know if you have to upgrade valvetrain (im guessing yes) but I didn't think you needed new heads.

Lots of great cams out there.
I like Texas Speed stuff. Great customer service and great product with a good price.
MS4 is there biggest cam for stock heads and makes great power.

There are only a couple of bigger cams you can run on stock 02+ LS6 springs, but neither are worth the pain. The GM Hotcam is not much bigger than stock and the ASA cam is a big PITA to tune.

I have a MS4 in my 99 TA, and yes you definately have to have upgraded valvetrain. (it is a .651 lift cam). MAkes great power with stock heads. I love it, and it sounds mean as hell (especially @ 7 thousand RPM's )

Unless you want a new timing chain, oil pump, pulley etc.... There package comes with springs, retainers, pushrods etc.... and will work great for the MS4.

Generally speaking, the tighter LSA you go with the more piston to valve clearance issues you'll run into.
Regardless of the LSA you choose, checking to piston to valve is a must with a cam that size.
Good luck in your search!

You might want to research this a little bit more before you go tearing into the motor...there is a lot to learn when it comes to cams. I think you should re-think your decision as the MS4 is a bit much for a daily driver. I would stick with something like a G5X2 or something similar in the low 230s, maybe high 220s as far as duration.

Your gonna need some one who knows what they are doing in the tune department.I just can't see a cam that big not having huge surge problems.

ms4 makes great power and definately needs cam kit and tuning. as far as driveability, i DD my Z for 9 months with ms4 and averaged 20mpg, so it can be done
