Default License Plate Bolts

Have just gotten the plates for my new to me 03 Z06. I have also just realized that the car does not have any of the bolts that are used to attach the plate.

Anyone know what size these are? I'm assuming it will be easier and cheaper to get them from my friendly ACE man than the local dealer.

Thanks!

Does anyone here even use bolts for the plate in the rear? I thought everyone just used the plastic bracket surround.

I used 1/4" pan head, then covered it with these, got them from GM.

By coincidence, I did this yesterday. Yes, in the rear it's just the plastic. But I wanted to fill the holes that show in the plate. So the nearest I could get was clear plastic screws.
I'll be honest here about plates. Let's save our states' money by doing what boat owners do. The states can still issue numbers to us, and following certain guidelines, we put our own number there. I think that I can do a better job than a prisoner.

Not using screws to hold the plate is not a good idea. Front or back.

Default Thread is finer

HI, I got a set from my local hdw store, the only thing to watch for is that it is better to get stainless or chromed, and the thread is finer than a standard bolt of the same size. It doesn't matter all that much, except if you use the coarser thread, and want to go back to a finer thread you will have to go a little bigger in diameter to get a good hold. Whatever you use it goes into a plastic nut, so it basically cuts it,s own threads anyway.

My 01 came from the factory with that filler. GM must have them.

From GM's C5 parts manual:

Frame, Frt Lic Plt 97 -02 #10288541

From what I can see in the manual, that is the surround for the license plate that we are talking about.

Mine has been held on by the stock trim surround for 3 years and I have a clear plate cover between as well
