Default How does nsurance work?

My car just got broken into and my window and glass roof were broken i was just wondering how insurance does things? Do they give me a check after i give them quotes or do they pay the company i got the quotes from?

Call your insurance company, they will likely direct you to Safelite or similar and if you have no deductable glass coverage they will just pay them direct after they fix your window. The glass roof they will probably have you go to the Dealer and order it yourself and reimburse you.

You will have to take it to a dealer/place they want you to go to and they will order it/get it and charge your insurance minus your ded.

Yes this is how insurance companies generally work.

Last time I had an insurance claim (broke a window getting into my truck and stole my stereo and such)

I just got a quote to replace the glass/new componets for the stereo and they cut me a check

Check your policy, here in NY most everyone has "full glass" which means no ded.
