How many of you went from C6 back to C5?
Hello all. I am curious to know how many members here had a C5 or C5Z then traded it for a C6 then regretted it and went back to C5? I am not trying to beat a dead horse here by getting in any kind of flamming match. I like the C5's and the C6's but I went to the C6 for sale section and I see sooooooooooo many new 07's even some 08's for sale. Alot of them were only owned for a few months. Whats the deal? Did I miss something? I would love to hear from people who in their own mind made a mistake and went back to a C5. Thanks.

That's my opinion on why you see 07's-08's for sale. Mine is staying put for a long time

I went from an 07 C6 LT3 w/nav A6 coupe
to
An 01 Vert..
The 01 will be my 2nd C5, and 4th Vette (I also had a C4).
It was a purely financial move. My C6 payments were $500/mo and my C5 is only $179.. I needed the lower payment for some breathing room so I can go back to school and not have to worry about working as much.
I love my C5, but I do miss the refinement of the C6. It's an awesome car. If I have the opportunity to get back into a C6 Vert I would. I do prefer the looks of the C5 (by a small margin), but I personally think the C6 is a better car otherwise.

I ordered and owned an 01 vert for 5 years. Sold it and ordered an 06 DSOM vert. It is a great car but I did miss my C5. The wife drives the C6 to work so I purchased an 03 50th edition vert for myself. There is just something about the C5's that I like better.

Sounds like the C5 sales may firm up this spring from what you have stated here. I was thinking of a C6 but not sure if I want to

Hate to put my nose in a sensitive area, but IMO, unless it is a stand out color, the C6 gets "lost in the traffic" crowd, where as the C5 is noted a 1/4 mile away. More room too. Either way you can`t lose.
Peace,
Peace,

I do like fixed headlights on a converted C5... so it's not that. But I seriously dislike the C6 front end styling. Some colors are more forgiving than others.
Duntov and McLellan gave us some of the hottest Corvette styles. Sadly, Dave Hill IMO dropped the ball; all in an attempt to appease the europeans (and they ended up trashing the C6 design).
I will be skipping the entire C6 series; and just recently purchased our second C5.

Me. Upgraded to a '07 Z51, drove it for a year, and never felt the same. Got back into my old 04, and it just clicks. I've gotten more compliments in the month I've had her back, then i did combined with the full year in the 07. Glad to be back, and I'll probably keep this one forever.

I love my C5 2000 yellow coupe, but expected that the C6 would be a major step up, and planned to trade my '00 car on a C6.
It turns out, however, that I do not like the looks of the C6, especially the head lamp treatment that looks plain cheap. Plus, as others have noted, the C6 blends with other traffic too much.
My hope is that the C7 is the improvement in design, power, performance, and quality aspects: then I shall buy one.
I'll probably keep my C5 forever, as she lives in my garage next to my 67 Chevelle Malibu coupe that I have owned since new!

Guess there are 2 sides to everything. It was the C6 that got me into buying my 1st Corvette. I can spot a C6 anywhere while I have a hard time telling a Ford Probe from a C5 from the front end and their shared pop-ups
I also like that the C6 has alot of touches from previous Corvettes with it's more pronouced body lines/fenders. While I like C5's, the C5 has that rounded body panels look which are pure 90's styling.
Bottom line is to each his own, each generation has it's fanbase. Just as some wouldn't get out of a C5 for a C6, others wouldn't think of a C5 with the modern C6 available.

I went from a 2003 Z06 to a 2006 Z51 Coupe and haven't looked back. No way I could go back. I am actually looking forward. My next Vette will be another Z06 except the C6 version possibly in 2009 but definitely before they stop the LS7 427 production sometime between the 2009 and 2010 model year. That is, of course, unless the bottom falls out on my finances, in which case I'll stick with the Honda.
And I could do without the air brakes (pop-up headlights) on the front of the car. My Trans Am had them, too. I could literally feel the drag when I popped them up.

I kept the C4 and the C5 when I bought the C6
Each is a different car with its pluses and minuses.
The C4 feels like a race car
The C5 feels has a more refined ride, more toys and a lot more room and storage
The C6 is even smoother riding but a step backward with storage
Although the C6 is fastest, I still prefer the feel of the road of the C4.
My wife prefers the C5... but then it is hers....

Like the guy above, I have both a C-5 and a C-6. The C-6 is faster, but the C-5 handles better in the mountains and so on. A lot less effort is required on the C-5. The C-6 has lots more toys inside which also makes it fun. Both have their advantages. As stated already, to each their own.
