I'd say that you're long overdue.

Any particular reason why you're waiting? You will be amazed at how nice the car rides and handles with new tires....especially if you get away from the OEM EMT. You're only depriving yourself.

I'm Cheap....
No seriously, I am going to go for the Pilot Sports in the spring.
I have been a member of this forum since 1999 about 6 mo. before I took possession of the FRC. This forum has been good to me.
Cheers Guys,

I've been running the Pilot Sport AS ZPs for nearly 2 years. You'll love the improvement. The PS2s are also great tires if you decide you don't need the protection of runflats. I tried them briefly after a **** up by the tire dealer

Just very stubbornly made the jump away from OEM RFs and put the Michelin RFs on. Couldn't be more pleased with the way my car rides. BTW, FWIW, only the fronts were worn out and I didn't have a chance to put too many miles on my OEMs. I am very amazed that yours lasted 8 years garage queen or not.

I welcome all suggestions for the new skins. I think I want the Michelins, but still looking. Most likely will order them from TireRack, hello Luke...
... and have local "qualified" tire dealer put them on.

Send me a PM when you decide what tires you are getting. I need to order some for the Torch this year. Our 99 still has the original tires also. Unlike some, our rear tires show a lot more wear.

I only have 16K on mine but I can't wait to get rid of them. I have a garage queen too so I'm thinking I may go the GS-D3 route based on what I've read here. Winter and wet performance isn't a factor and I have AAA+ and a cellphone.
Maybe that $600 govt. rebate check will go towards some new skins this year.

The tire manufacturers used to recommend changing tires at 10 years old, no matter what the thread life looked like. It had to do with tire degradation when exposed to ultra-violet rays..."weathering" or fine cracking of the sidewalls. A "garage queen" might increase that time line.
I'm not sure if more "modern" tires have made that recommendation change. Newer tires would probably make the ride better though.

I have Michelin P/S and love them. The stock tires were ****, I can't believe you have had the same tires for 8 years, mine last 8k miles haha
I never skimp on tires, it's the only thing holding your prized car to the earth
