Default Partition for FRC

This is my first post guys! I recently bought a partition for my FRC. I bought it from corvettepartz. It doesnt seem to do anything much. It fits like ****. It has a 1/2 gap at the top. Does anybody know if thats a common problem or did I just get a bad piece? Do other partitions actually work? Thanks.

My partition for my vert is truly the only mod I regret. Mine was from a vendor who sells partitions/insulation.

I've got one of those high density foam partitions with carpeting on it. Doesn't do a lot for me, either. It doesn't stay put all that well and, yeah, there's a bit of a gap...

Default FRC Partition

I bought mine from Ecklers and it fits like a glove. The only problem I had was it staying put. Velcro fixed the problem and I'm happy.

I got mine for the Vert from Exoticvettes.com, a Forum vendor. Great quality, made from solid materials and the covering is almost stock, great price and fits like a glove.

http://www.exoticvette.com/

It sits in the trunk so it leaves space behind the seats to stow stuff. You can also drop the roof with it still in place and it protects the roof fabric. Great design.

It looks like yours fits better. I bought the carpeted model. If the ends were shaved it might drop back further. I hate to modify something I spent $100 on.

Wow I am surprised to hear that!! I have had two partitions the first one was in my 99 FRC from ecklers. Fit perfectly! only way you could get it out was you literally shove it out. I bought an 03 Z06 and purchased the uncarpeted $30.00 from ebay and carpeted it myself. It also fits extremely snug. Wonder why the ones u guys got are so poor?

Default mine fits good.

I bought mine from Southern Car Parts!!

http://www.southerncarparts.com/corv...deal-p-77.html

Its kind of pricey but it comes with the velcro to secure it and the tray helps keep things organized. Honestly I have never see my Z without the combo in. My brother installed the kit before I ever saw the car!! But I have put the partition down to lay a huge mirror in the Z. I thought the exhaust was a bit louder when I did, but not much.

I thought about buying one to knock down the road noise on my 01 vert. Do they actually help knock down the road noise?

It probably depends a lot on the type of tires you have (Run Flats, Summer Perf. Tires, for Drag Radials) and the road surface you are on at the time.

I think the partition helps a bit in my Z. Not really sure of the advantages in a Vert

From my personal experience in two different vettes a 99 FRC and now my 03 Z06. You will notice some reduction in interior road noise and exhaust noise. Infact in my 99 FRC I did a bunch of interior noise reduction mods including full interior insulation kit. The partition alone reduced interior noise more than the entire insulation kit did. Its worth it plus they look good to.

I think they most certainly do...

Mine fits like a glove as well....and there are absolutely no spaces around mine...no velcro needed to hold it in place either...

It goes in snug and is a bit** to remove...but I suppose that is a good thing !

Thanks for your responses, I plan on getting new tires come spring time which I think will make a huge difference. I'm still running the original GY EMTs.

An option for you, although I hate to suggest throwing more money at the problem, would be to get one of those rear cargo area mats. If you placed that in the rear under the partition...it would close the 1/2 inch gap at the top.

Also, another thought about the 1/2 gap. Mine fits very snug...and that may not be the best either. I now find it more difficult to close the trunk properly without leaving a door open. The snug fit of the partition appears to cause some back air pressure that makes it hard to close the trunk (without slamming it hard). A small 1/2 gap would probably allow the air to flow forward better when you try to close the trunk with all the doors closed. I know it sounds weird...but, I definitely can tell a difference with the partition installed vs. without it.

Do you have any pictures of yours installed?...so, we can see how bad the fit is? I would also contact Corvettepartz...I have dealt with them a few times in the past & they have always been very accomodating & helpful.

Tom

Ecklers partition in my 2000 FRC fits perfect. Shove in shove out fit. Definately reduced noise. Good luck, shouldn't have a 1/2" gap!
