Comaro vs C-5
Got a question guys,I got a younger cousin who swears up and down that his LS1 Comaro has the same HP as my C-5,I told him even if it did the vette is lighter and will out preform the Comaro. The Comaro is stock and mine is moded up so it wouldn't be a fair run. Any comments would conferm my hunch.

Actually I have never heard of a "Comaro", so I do not know which has more HP.
Now I have a 1968 Camaro and the 68 Vette's had more HP then.
I had a 1997 Camaro Z-28 and the 97 Vette's had more HP then.
The story I have heard for years is that the F-bodys may have the same engine, but GM will never list them with the same HP as a Vette.

The 98 and newer Camaro and 97-04 Corvette both use the LS1 but due to intake and exhaust differences the Corvette is rated slightly higher on HP.
Plus the Camaro weighs about 300 lbs. more, so the Corvette is faster stock but not by much. Most stock Vettes run around 13.3 in the 1/4 mile and most Camaros run around 13.5.
A modified Camaro or a modified SLP SS is a whole different ballgame.

I think you are talking about the late model (last model?) Camaros....so the LS1 Camaro Z28's were rated at 305HP and the Z28 SS at 320HP (versus the C5 LS1 at 345/350 HP rating).
Chevrolet did come out with a Camaro Z28 SS with the SLP performance package (pair of elongated exhaust tips coming out the back vs just the pair of round exhaust tips, side to side) that was rated at 330HP...but this was with the LT4 engine (C4).
Conclusion, from the factory, no, the horsepower ratings between the Corvette and Camaro LS1s were never the same/equal.
I could be wrong but this is based on my memory with help from this weblink:

Camaro was rated less, but it did not produce less. Plus it has a solid axle.
Watch out in a drag race. Don't sweat it if the race involves corners.
Hell a standard z28 is downright frightening going around corners.

Same freakin engine. I have an '02 Z28 and an '02 C5. Same engine except the C5 has a better exhaust system (a few additional ponies). The drivetrains are a different subject.

I really loved all of my fbodies, the 89 Iroc-z was a keeper i wish i would have kept! The 93 & 95 z28's i had were cheap and easy to mod and all ran like raped apes, but the usual gripes like cheap interior led me to trade over to pontiac TA's. For some strange reason, this is where i had all my mechanical FUBAR's with the 97 & 02 TA. The 98 was a pretty decent runner but i ended up trading it in on my vette. I have never looked back. I really hope the next gen cars that come out have better build quality.

Same LS1 engine with the exception of a tiny cam difference, so same HP. The Corvette exhaust may give a couple extra HP, but on the dyno the F-body will often dyno more because of a more efficient drivetrain.

Z28's are very quick cars. Its definately not something to laugh at if you go against a modified one even one with just bolt ons.
The vette has the advantage no doubt but its slim
