Speed!!!! READ post before polling
This is not a thread to post kill stories or anything like that. I would like to know how many digenerates there are out there like me. I'm talking about your cruising down the road at the speed limitand you continually have the sensation to just drop the pedal down and go for broke AND when you do do this your like a mechanized robot systematically plotting your attack strategy . The above must describe you for a yes poll answer. Anyone short of the above polls no. Also post first name and age in the thread. Stand up and be counted. Me first...

Larry, 51. I guess I qualify. My wife is constantly reminding me of the posted speed limits.

2023 C5 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
I flew jet fighters most of my life so I got around at 500 mph plus most of the time
Since I started flying desks there seems to be a gap. The vette fills that nicely
I admit to a lead foot every now and again but only when its safe.

Safety Car
Joe, I feel I'm like you (mabe because we both drive white cars). While driving, I constantly have the urge to just floor it and keep it there. But I also think of the consequences, and then back off.
I even dream of driving "***** to the wall". At least in my dreams, I can live out my fantasies with little or no consequences.
I believe when we drive a car with this much power, and don't have a healthy outlet for it, i.e. legal racing, autocross, etc., we become frustrated and have that "need for speed."

Doesn't everyone know that speed is one ingredient to Testosterone.
I like to WOT, but I can't seem to get myself to go faster than 10MPH over the speed limit (tickets are higher above this mark). I also do this in short spurts and then go back to speed limit. Other drivers are nuts (ricers and slower cars), and will go 20MPH over the speed limit just to pass me or catch up.
A Dodger Charger with a Hemi(RT not SRT) took off at the light but was about one car length back. I stopped my accelation about 5 over the speed limit (50 MPH). He goes flying past me about 75 in a 50 zone and cuts across three lanes to make a right. Seems I hurt his pride from the light and he just couldn't take it.
With great power comes great responsibility. Mike/ 34

well I am going on 23 yrs old, and I have to say I will be driving like a grandma in a 1996 Le Sabre!!!
1. I am not used to driving a street vehicle
2. Not used to 415 rwhp!!!
3. not used to a C5 or a C5Z for that matter
4. Its going to b mid Dec by the time I see my Z so cold tires will make things harder (literally)
5. Its my DD so I need to try not to brake it
HAVING SAID ALL THAT!!! I soon as all those things are in the distant past I will be right there with you, wish I was on a F1 track everyday!!!

IMHO the story of the C5 is the low end torque, and most of the fun is accelerating up to the speed limit not surpassing it. I'm no angel, and I voted yes because I live for wide open onramps where the posted speed limit is 70 believe it or not I have tons of fun within the posted law, and I do my best to not be the fastest car on the road

I like to pump the accelerator pedal and lurch a little while cruising at 70 mph. I excites me knowing that there is so much power lurking under that hood just begging to be let out.

I don't like wizzing in and out of traffic. But, i do like going from a dead stop or roll to *** mph- allot. A Corvette or any other sports car is made for spirited driving

I am a reformed degenerate. I spent a great deal of time and money on street machines in the seventies. I had my GTX's and Chargers and a 71LT1 Vette. I got allot of tickets and spent allot of time in court. About ten years ago I got my pilots license and have my own plane. After that the need to speed has been very diminished. Not that I don't get the urge sometimes, but the cost of insurance and the hassle of court or traffic school discourages this misbehavior.

Just yesterday, I was entering the highway at a good clip, when all of a sudden, some "Vettes are NUTHIN" guy thought he'd show ME what his car BMW 335i was made of. Well, you can guess the rest...... so yes, I "explode" at times.
