What is this crap on my Brakes
I bought my car a few months ago, and noticed this stuff, but since I just replaced the Wagon Wheels with thin spokes you can see it a lot more. What is this? It is on all 4 brakes.

YUP... nothing to worry about mechanically but bush league from a brake installation point of view. Should be easy to clean if you take the pads out of the caliper.

akempucky...gorilla snot.......poor workmanship...I don't think that stuff is necessary on a Corvette...I put the pads on a clean caliper and use a very slight amount of brake grease on the contact points...my $.02

You don't need that much brake quiet on the back of the pads as you can see there isn't that much caliper contact. I greased mine only in the contact areas. You can clean it off if it bugs you that much, or leave it alone... it won't hurt anything.

Just wondering... Could that stuff be the end result of painting the hats of the rotors with a shaker can and not caring if the overspray gets on the braking surface of the rotor, figuring it would just burn off?
