Wilwood Installed...[PICS]
Superlite 6 piston fronts/4 piston rears w/13 inch rotors on stock 2000
wheels. 17/18's. This is purely for a street and show app, no tracking.
I was running BAER Eradispeeds, Hawk ST pads, and the red Z06
calipers. Decided to stay red with the Wilwoods. I installed them
myself too. The most DIY I've done on my C5, a 1998 w/125k miles.
Almost the same overall size as the Eradispeeds, but different hat size.
The Wilwood rotors do NOT come assembled. So, I put them together
first including the safety wire from rotor screw to screw. Cumbersome,
but safety first, always.
Getting the old stuff off is almost harder than putting the new on.
Wilwood supplies new caliper brackets, but you retain the same bolts
that attach them to the spindles. Getting the proper alignment of the
caliper and pads onto the rotor takes a little back-n-forth, but easy
enough. Putting on the Wilwood steel flex brakes lines was really easy.
Multiple floor jacks and jack stands a must. Grabbed the wife while she
graded homework in the car to be my brake bleeder assistant. Did the
first bleed just to get pressure onto the pedal and was flushing the
stock GM fluid with Wilwoods DOT 3 570.
Bling...
Re-bled the brakes a second time after I did some ABS brake stops and
then I tightened all the bolts up a final time to torque specs and red 271
loctite(that stuff is nasty).
Seated the pads this morning and cleaned the dust. Wilwood pads, so
we'll see how dusty they are. All in all, a pretty decent DIY job, that
with a buddy, could cut the total install time in half. I had all the tools
so I didn't have to make that 'run' at 10 before closing to get 1-tool.
Definitely not cheap, but I can't stop the voices in my head telling me
to do it, so whatever, you only live once.

I think he said "Superlite 6 piston fronts/4 piston rears w/13 inch rotors on stock 2000

So maybe a little better than stock, I guess
Great look brakes!!!

2 Answers:
1.) Everytime I was in the wheelwheel, I said damn I should clean these...ah maybe next time.
2.) They seem more instaneous. Barely hit the pedal, and the stopping
begins. Not sure if that is bleeding the brake lines/MC and/or both the
brakes as well.
