Default Textralia Clutch noise Audio file included

I have seen a few post on this subject of a Tex clutch whining ... or grinding ... mine is dooing the same thing and figured I would capture a audio file of it making the noise... Is this rely normal? Has anyone else had this noise...
This is only when the clutch is engaging in any gear .. mostly after it has warmed up a bit...
This is a video of 3 easy starts ... like if you were in traffic or just leaving from a light... bring rpm to 1100 and ease the clutch out...

I haven't listened to your audio clip because I'm at the office but do you have a twin disc clutch?

I have a Textralia OZ700 w/steel billet flywheel, it's never made that noise....it had a slight chatter the first 200 miles, but that went away. With about 1K miles on it now, it has no chatter, no noise and it is very smooth.

almost every pucked disc I've run has had engaugement noise of some kind, after a thousand miles or so it quiets down some but metal on metal contact is going to make some noise and have somewhat of a harsh engaugement. Thats the trade off to being able to hold all the power with only 1 disc. even after a couple thousand miles during a 1st gear take off on a hill or something like that it will whine.

As long as you don't get locked out of gear and are able to shift w/o issues I wouldn't worry about it too much, you clutch is doing its job.

That's really weird man, and NOT normal. I've got this clutch and it has differences compared to stock, but not like that. Has your installer contacted the manufacturer? That video will help alot in communicating the problem!

I thought the slave and bearing were a all one unit.. If they are not would the pilot bearing only make noise during clutch engagement ?

My Textrailia made a god awful amount of chatter and squeaking until I bedded the clutch. The sound reverberated throughout the entire car. I called the distributor and spoke to him and was advised that I needed to bed the clutch pucks by heating it up to temp and burning some of the surface coating off. My choices were: burnouts, beat on it or progressive heating while driving.

What I ended up doing was going out, driving the car about 30 mph, engaging the clutch and reving the motor to about
3500 rpm. I then reengaged the clutch slowly and did this a couple of times. The clutch heated up to the point I actually smelled it burning and the sound went away.

In retrospect, I didn't have to do this with my Exedy, but then again the Exedy didn't last very long either. So we'll see how long this clutch lasts.

Good luck.

This actually happens quite a bit with Tex clutches...

Mine did the same thing.....Doug at ECS told me to do the following....

Go into a parking lot......put the car in 4th gear....rev the engine to 3500 rpms and let out the clutch...

Do this twice...

I guarantee no more squeeling....I had the identical problem !!!!!!!

Worked for me !!
