Biggest cam for daily driving? MS3/4 too much?
Okay I dont care if the car has a choppy idle or shakes a bit when at a light but i do need it to be driveable and want to not change the valvetrain every 10k miles. I want it to be fine when cruising at 1500-2000 rpms in 6th. I have stock gears in the rear end and the stock z06 tranny and plan on keeping that way. I have port and polished heads, is an ms3 or ms4 a good choice or should i go with something less agressive for daily driving? RevX will check if my heads have been milled (done by previous owner) because i obviously dont want any valve clearance issues. Im looking for hp in the 440rwhp-450rwhp range if possible. I doubt i can expect more without a fast mani...
I have:
Full Exhaust
Underdrive pulley
z06 intake mani (obviously)
apparently a good set of ported/polished heads
vararam
I want/need to decide by tuesday morning

I would go with a 224/228 cam w/580+ lift on a 114 lobe center for an A4 plus you can keep it legal
Could go alittle higher with a MN6 tranny 228/228 or 228/230 with 580 + lift!
This has a mild chop and awesome performance!
Just my .02 cents!
Thanks,Matt

I ran a 230-236 112 cam in my 346. I had a 90/90 setup and made 460 with an SD tune. I drove it in DC rush hour without problems. I really don't know that I'd want to go any bigger than that. Remember, it's all in the tune.

def want something in the 230s at least. I have a z06 so its a 6 speed for me. The shop is going to have a cam ground for me through comp cams so no go on the eg cams.

definitely don't be shy on your cam selection. I was a wuss and stuck with the ole 224/228 114lsa. While not "unhappy" with it, I wish I would have gone bigger. mid/high 230's if not low 240's Mine is extremely reliable, with awesome DD manners, but will be swapping soon.

Something similar to a g5x-3 would be good. MS3 and MS4 are a bit much for the street. They're more track cams (or dyno queen). g5x-3 is just about right for a z06.

238/244 596/612 114+2. I've have had this cam in for 3 years with no issues. I've got 4.10 gears and just made a trip to Hot Springs and got 29 mpg, average around 75-80mph.
