Default Need body shop in Northern VA

Well, finally sustained my first damage on the lower front fender behind the wheel (ran into a very high curb). I'm looking for a top notch body shop in the Northern Virginia area.

Has anyone had any Vette work done at Ray's Autobody (in Vienna, VA)? Would you recommend them? Should I consider any others?

You might get a better response if you post over in the SouthEast section.

EastCoast Refinishing and Fiberglass in Manassas repaired my C5 a few years ago after an accident and did a great job. Some other people did not get good service from them, but I would definately have them do repair / paint work again should I need it.

Another place is EuroSports in Lorton. They did some work for GentleBen recently.

Then there is Stingrays's in Purcellville.

Thanks Lowcash. I appreciate the info. I'll post in SouthEast and continue to do more homework. I'll be so upset if the repairs are anything less than near perfert. I was hoping the day I needed to find a good body shop would never come.

Many recommend Sting-Ray's in Purceville. They are expensive but apparently worth it.

That may have been when John own the shop. He sold it a couple years ago and now works out of his house in Charlestown WVA.

That's who did my work, but I had to wait about 4 months before he could get to it. He rebuilds top flight classics now, and sometimes takes on a newer car dependant on the owner.

Default Stingray Auto Body

My experience with Stingray Auto Body in Purceville, VA was taking my '76 Stingray there to have the headlights overhauled and get the vacuum correct. After a month I was told that the guy who works on the lights actually works full time somewhere else and hasn't been around much. Then another month went by while Charlie, the owner, got married and went on his honeymoon; OK. Not sure what this had to do with fixing my vette, since he doesn't do the work. Finally after 71 days, 14 phone calls and 14 excuses, I called and told him I was coming to get my car and his reply was he didn't know what to charge me and I said for what? You haven't done anything. Got my car and found the headlights completely disassembled, laying in the nose cavity. I drove home at night, in the rain, with no headlights; got very lucky. Went to Corvette Specialists in Chantilly and had the lights fixed in two days...

I used JBL Specialty at Dulles, VA, off 606. they handled the complete body work and paint on my '76. They did an excellent job, as you can see from my photo, but put your own emblems, badges, parking light assemblies, antenna, etc. back on yourself... not their forte'. Funny thing though, I've been calling them for two months for some small repair work and left many messages without so much as a voice mail back. Maybe they went out of business...

I had Artisan in Manassas do my Tiger Shark nose, etc. and am extremely happy. They do a lot of trick paint tuner cars and there is a guy there who owns and is in to vettes.

Another vote for JBL. The owner is a forum member. He did great work on my '64. I spoke with him about a month ago. He's still there.
