I agree. My first thought was - How do you close the lid - a handkerchief? - I only have to detail the emblem with Q-tips and toothpicks once a year or so when I reapply Zaino. I hate to think of the finger prints on the lid after a week of use. I usually wipe my car with Z6/Z8 a couple of times a week because I can see the finger prints on the door handles, windows, etc, but the trunk lid usually is pristine.

hahah i dont know what it is,.. but i read this entire post and it cracks me up because the emblem is now a preventive way of closing your trunk with out getting finger prints on your car. Seriously.... its a car get over it,...

I thought of doing that when I had my 98 Vert, but reason took over.
FWIW I wish that my C6 had the emblem where the C5s do.
trying to decide now should I put a emblem there, (427 or possibly a 505HP) I cannot remove the one on the bumper or there will be a hole to fix.

Took mine off my vert. I think it cleans up the look but then again I like smoothies. Why does GM have to put an emblem or corvette on every piece or panel anyway?
