Memory seats
HUD
BOTH tops (if targa)
12-disc changer
Polished Wheels (unless you are definitely getting aftermarket rims, then it doesn't matter)
Z-51 suspension, (forget selective ride unless you don't mind paying $800 per shock to replace them when they go bad)

I am pretty sure if you get a coupe/vert you will have sport seats, I've never seen one without them, thats just Z06s that get the regular seat.

The rest was standard after 01 anyway.
I say go with a vert, ooohhhhh what a feeling!!!!!

Lemmee see now,

Just get a Z06 and you'll have just about everything you're looking for in one neat package right from the factory including more HP..

Another vote for HUD. Also, the premium color Magnetic Red II.
Non factory option: parabolic lens for your side view mirrors so you can see around the ample rear end of the C5. What a great car!

I first wanted a removable top of some type so no Z06 for me.
Then I wanted in this order:

6 speed
Color of my choice:
Yellow (2000 or later)
Red
Black
Chrome wheels
Some type of option, like CD player or HUD

I got a 99 Coupe with an Auto, Dark RED (I couldn't complain, it is RED)
Chrome wheels and a lot of options.

So I traded the 6 speed for a lot of options.

1. Performance rear end gear ratio if A4 ( 3.15)
2. HUD
3. Z51 suspension
4. Memory sport seats with telescoping steering wheel
5. Dual Climate control
6. If Coupe and you don't live where it is real hot then the tinted glass top.
Non factory changes that would be on my list would be new tires (Goodyear GS-D3), Corsa pace car cat back exhaust.

I think I just described my car.

Big noisy tires, Mud flaps that say "BACK OFF JACK", Gun rack, and a Rebel flag.
Huh.......... OH, my bad. I thought this was the F-150 forum.

my priorities were 6 speed, red, black, or silver. beyond that as many options as I can get. as far as I know, I have all of them. I got the F45 suspension instead of Z51 but I like it better anyway. My C5 is pretty much perfect.

when the mod bug hits you:
cags bypass (got really lucky and found my c5 already had one!)
catback exhaust
LED exterior lights
anything other than stock headlights, they are awful!

also when buying a C5 research carefully all of the common problems with the car, there are tons of them. but you can fine the remedies to any problem on this forum. some are simple quick and free, others are not so free. the unlucky part of my buying experience is that if its a common C5 problem...my car had it.

Now for the other side...

1)The memory seats act up after a while. Had them, would put in the key, and the seat would move.....sometimes. Auto entry was off. All problems. Replaced them with non memory seats...much better. How often do you move the seats anyway? And tracks and motors will last longer if you dont constantly move them.

2)Dual climate control is more expensive to fix. Also acts up now and again, so now I just keep it on low and adjust the fan. Hot air..cold air..then all good...aaaghh.

I want to know how do I switch to a manual system? How about that for a mod?

Keep is simple, the more stuff like this you have, the more can go wrong and the more expensive it is to fix.

NUMBER 1 THOUGH....CAGS BYPASS.....NO DEBATE....Fix that stupid bypass...

Window Valet is a cool little gadget, and if it breaks, just take it out. Would like the HUD, but a bit too much for now.

Put some insulation in the car for the heat and sound. Non runflat tires makes a huge difference as well.

heads up display - makes the drive that much nicer
memory seats - very nice feature when two people have remotes
Z51 suspension or Z06 either - you will enjoy this
sport seats- they have the hole in the upper part ( way, way, way nicer seat then std)
dual climate control ( just becasue of the other features not the dual part)
polished wheels or you will be upgrading quickly
glass roof ( or dual roof panels ) i love the look of the glass one and the ability to see thru it is very nice. it also offers more head room and makes it feel less cramped inside

the thing i would want the least-- adjustable suspension ( adjusteable shocks are stupid money to replace and if you go to std shocks it causes trouble codes)

as far as afterarket
i loved my Corsa Indy/Pace, headers, drilled sloted rotors, painted calipers, upgraded Z06 sways, cold air intake, chromed Z06 wheels with larger Wide Oval tires, X pipe, cags bybass a must have with a mn6. deffinately upgrade to better lights, i went with pia's and they helped a lot.

thats just a couple things i would look for and not in another one. and things i did to mine and loved
Ron

For me it would be like I ordered my 97 but with a few options that were not on the 97.

Power Passenger seat
Base Seats not Sport
6 Speed
Z51
Dual Zone A/C
Glass Top

For the newer options:
HUD (can't live without it, when on the track with my 03Z I set it for speedo and oil pressure while displaying oil temp on the DIC really can't see any of the other instruments as they are usually in the shade)

Active Handling

That is it.

If you have small children/grandchildren you'll want a late 2000 or later for the factory airbag cutoff switch.
HUD is awesome
Memory seating with the easy entry/exit is very welcome

3) MN6, my humble opinion, sports cars need a clutch! (if it's a share deal with wife, or a second Corvette, I'd do an auto)
4) I love the auto climate control and Memory package
5) POLISHED 5 spoke rims, they look HELLACIOUS!
6) The coupe is a great open air compromise, top is easy to remove, no wind on the back of the head, less $$$$$$ to purchase than a 'vert, they look Ferrari-esque with the top off
7) Sport seats, look Kool, for da Win!

John

and I have all of them plus more.
