Burning Brakes
I did my GM ISimple (ISGM73) last week. Took me all of 1/2 hr once I got my act together and developed a plan. My hookup was "ISimple" as I used the trunk connector. I removed the CD stacker (?) and stored it way just in case.
For what it's worth I have two sets of connector cables: PXHGM1 and PXHGM3 for which I have no use. Anyone interested? Free; you pay the shipping from Hawaii. I would assume under $10.

i have the harmon kardon in the box.
don't remember what i paid for it.
not sure i want to put holes in my console or elsewhere.
it will take a pro install since i'm pretty much an idiot about this stuff. i just want to drive the car and i like the sound of the exhaust. don't listen to the stereo much anyway.

Be advised, the ipod2car will not charge the new iPhone 3G. Music playback still works. From Peripheral tech support:
That really sucks.
We are aware of this issue, since the new IPhone 3G came out. Apple is
using USB only for charging their new phones instead of both Firewire
(which is what we use to charge IPods), and USB. Unfortunately, we have
nothing available at the present time to resolve this.

Is anyone having issues with a 6th Gen (iPod Classic) acting funny with their ipod2car. I currently have a 4th Gen and it works fine, but my buddy with a 6th Gen said his was acting weird when plugged into the ipod2car. I'm thinking about getting a new iPod, thus I ask.

Why don't you try his ipod in your car? I have used a Gen 2 and 3 Nano and an Iphone with no issues.

This site claims to have both the iSimple for our C5's and the PXHGM4 cable in stock. BestBuy do not seem to carry the right iSimple model anymore.

An alternative
Want to have up to 3 AUX inputs that are selectable for your Bose HU ?
I have just installed a modified AUX system that allows up to three sets of line level inputs that are usable selectable via a push button panel that you can custom mount just about anywhere. This also allows you to keep your CD Changer and continue to use it.
So you can have a CD Changer, iPod, Satellite Radio, and a HD radio (or any 3 RCA based inputs) without using any FM modulators.
I used the PIE X3 box
http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piex3auxconv.html
With a custom harness that the PIE Tech support folks made for m the C5..
Looks like the harness in the link but unlike the listed harness piex3gm9.
This one works !
http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piex3gm9.html
There is a downside however. To work in a C5 the X3 and harness have to be mounted at the rear CD Changer.
This requires you to run extension RCA cables from the rear of the C5 to the front where your devices are. I used 25’ RCA dual cables…….but 15’ would have likely worked fine. I bought “premium cables” at $7.95 each.
Also have to extend the remote switch cable. While PIE sells one for about $15. I just used a off the self CAT5 cable
http://store.pchcables.com/25fomocanepa.html
and a coupler
http://store.pchcables.com/rjwincoiv.html
That is a lot of cable to route all they way forward…….but it wasn’t too difficult.
I mounted the X3 to the face of the changer
http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...9/000_0077.jpg
I played with the included wired remote’s location for days. Just too big to fit anywhere I would want it in the cockpit.
So I removed the switch and wired in a ultra small PC board switch on leads and installed the mini switch through the TracControl panel…….about where the Pass Air Bag light would be on an 02. No indicator lights…..but it works great.
If you contact PIE, ask for Kelly in Customer Service…….he was great.

Wow. Nice product...and good writeup! My CD changer is sitting in my garage...I don't miss it, much, with teh AUX2CAR and an MP3 player...plus the CD player in the HU. But, it would be nice to have the changer capability. Good work!

For those with the wire for the CD changer, is that wire found near the center rear panel of the trunk near the lock assembly? Trying to determine if mine has that cable or not.
