What Tire?
OK, I have been searching the forum all morning and have not found the conclusive information I am looking for. I have just under 13K mi. on my 2004 Z and the wear indicators are showing on my fronts and almost on the backs. What would you guys recommend for stock 17/18" rims? Probably will buy them online and have a local shop mount them...

I'm sure you'll get lot's of replys,so here's mine.
I would determine the use of the car first.Strip use? Autox? or just plain daily driver like mine.
I like Falken,Nitto,Kumho & Conti tires.I would stick to tires that have a UTOG of 300 or less.<300 more grip, less wear & >300 the opposite.
Tirerack & Discount tires or good.Try vulcantire.com & Edgeracing.com for a change of pace.

Street only. Driven a couple of days per week. I want a good performance tire, ~4500 miles a year doesn't exactly warrant having to replace tires that often...

I'm in the same boat these days. Firestone Wide Ovals are hard to ignore because of the price and generally good comments on here but I think I'm going to bite the bullet and go with Michelin PS2's.

If you just want to drive on the street, but you like to use the car's power somewhat, try Goodyear F1 GS-D3's, they are a very good rain tire and less pricy than F1 SC's. The F1 SC's are better if you are willing to spend more.
How often do you want to replace tires? I bet you good get Nitto-R3 road racing tires and at 4500 miles per year, they might last 2-3 years and stick like glue.
It's all a balance.

For the street, if you are looking to get the best handling perfomance tire in stock sizes, I'd go with the OE Goodyear Supercar F1's or Michelin PS2's.

Im looking at the street tires that are almost a slick (have very minimal tread but are still dot aproved.) Im looking at the nitto and a few others. Any advice? PS, i dont want to suck up nails if i dont have to

MY firestones hook good in second from a roll. If I rev it a little around 30 and dump the clutch I can get them to spin for a second then it takes off like a rocket. If the tires are warm no spin at all. 1st gear I can always spin them.

i need to add that the tire i get must be sticky and be 200mph capable. I love the look of the nitto 555r2's and the invo's, but none are z rated. If i tire is only y rated... 186mph... then what? im serious, ill be doing every bit of 200 from time to time, and the last thing i want is a blown tire. THe toyo proxes ra1 is the only tire that gives me the comfort of a zr rating so far. zr is better than y i assume on top speed. Thanks

I use the BF Goodwrich G-Force Kdw on my front and a set of BF Drag radials in rear. 7k miles later front are still like new and rear have at least 4500 more miles left. I.M.O the KDW have a great tread pattern, check them out.

I have PS2's on my Z and have been very happy with them. I sometimes drive it hard, do alot of highway driving and go to the dragstrip too. I try to avoid rain, just so I don't have to wash my car when I don't feel like it. However, I have driven in some hard storms and they've been great. I'm also on my second season with them and they are wearing well. They may be more expensive than a lot of other tires, but I feel they are well worth the money. Excellent all-around performance. Good ride and noise levels, too.

These are a great tire especialy for the price..............I belive I will be trying out the Goodyear GS-D3's they have 10/32 of tread instead of 8/32 like most do but you will have to step up to a 275 in the front but this is not of any concern though........All 4 with shiping came out to be $967.00 from tire rack.............as for the Wide Ovals, all I can say is if you like to play go else where mine have lasted slightly a year, I do not like them in the cold, the rain, or anything but warm weather and as long as there is at least 50% tread..............others here have liked them, but I'm glad mine are gone here in the next week.
