EBCM & the relay in the Column Lock both went out, both covered under warranty.

*** I love how reliable these cars are. If you were reading the same type of thread on the rx7forum(my old car), you be seeing the number of rebuilt/blown engines people have had in their cars, etc.

OK, starting this post out with a virtual knock-on-wood

2003, bought it new in May '03 (so just over 4 years old). Just a couple of tiny problems:

Broke a stud on each side of the rear wheels (my fault I think). Also had the drivers seat back replaced from pulled out stitching.

That's it! The seat isn't even "mechanical"!

My '99 had a few headlamp plugs blow out, and the rear leaked a little (fixed under warranty).

I've been super happy with the reliability on both cars. I mean major problems on both I can count on one hand. To be honest, my 2 C4's I had (94/95) were also both super solid.

How dd you know it was your right rear? Sound go away on Right Handers on the highway, so that the weight is lifted off the right hand side of the vehicle?

2004 Z06 bought in Feb '04 - 13K miles

1. Replaced OEM Battery after two months of ownership
2. Replaced faulty relay in fuseblock last year (probably why battery originally failed)

That's it - I have intake and exhaust work and dyno'd 400rwhp. All in all, it's been a great car

04 with 9700 miles. No problems. Tires wear very quickly. Down to 4/32 front and rear.

On my '03 Z, replaced the mutifunction switch to cure inopertive right side stop lights, the battery and the lower oil pan gasket to repair an engine oil leak. Minor items on a fanastic vehicle.

04 with 8900 miles. No mechanical failures. Delco Battery, one Key fob and one rear wheel all replaced under warranty. fwiw: As for the rear wheel it had GM Speedline stamped on back of spokes , yet it looked different than the other three - this particular wheel has sharper edges on the spokes and the other three all have more rounded/softer edges to them). Real happy w/it!

knock on wood, the only issue i have had with my 03 Z was in feb when i installed a callaway honker, it would throw a p1514 code and go into reduced power mode, along with abs and t/c. in april i pulled the honker and re-installed the stock air filter and so far, no problems. mike at callaway said he would send me a filter cleaning kit, but as of yet, i have not seen it and the honker is still setting in its box.

2003 - Bought with about 24K on it, 7 months later now has about 31K on it...

- O2 sensor went out on passender side after I had the car 3 or 4 weeks. Over $300 @ the stealership to have it replaced.

- Ignition cylinder lock went out.

- Getting occasional random traction control codes and check engine lights.

- Getting occasional low cat efficiency codes and check engine lights (on pass. side, same as O2 sensor that went bad).

the honker was probably making your car run lean, a custom dyno tune should take care of that.

sorry for the late response. You can jerk the wheel one way or the other to take the load off of one side or the other to help narrow it down. Sound will getter better with the load off of that bearing.

the car has headers and full exhaust and was dyno tuned before the honker was installed. the tuner said it wasn't the tune, its been back there.

Blower motor for the HVAC. But that's not mechanical in my book.

I bought my 02 Z from a Private Party(2nd Owner) back in May 05 when it had 12,2xx miles.

The Previous Owners had Fixed Under Warranty:

Rear Dif Leak
Column Lock Recall
Driver Side Weather Stripping replaced
& some other electrical issue, I can't remember.

Fixed Under GMPP Extended Warranty I purchased(before original warranty expired):

EBCM went out 2 weeks after I bought the car

I still have 2 years left on my GMPP MajorGuard Plan. Other than the column locking on me, CLB fixed that, no other issues at all. The car has about 16,6xx on the odometer now. And i'm glad I bought the Extended Warranty cause when the EBCM went out it paid for itself 3 times over.
